The official list of games for Evo 2026 is out, and it looks like a fantastic event is planned. However, one missing game has already caused some discussion among fans.
The new Marvel fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony, won’t be featured at Evo 2026 or Evo Japan 2026.
I was really expecting this to come out in the first few months of next year, and I figured for sure we’d see it showcased at Evo. But now, people are starting to think it might actually be delayed – maybe it won’t be out as soon as we all hoped!
It’s very likely Tokon will be revealed with a release date soon, and then added to the Evo lineup. With The Game Awards happening so soon, that’s a perfect opportunity.
Anyway, moving on from Tokon, we’ve got a total of 12 fighting games to look forward to.
They are:
- Street Fighter 6
- Tekken 8
- Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
- Under Night In-Birth 2 [Sys:Celes]
- Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
- Rivals of Aether 2
- Invincible VS
- Guilty Gear Strive
- Virtua Fighter 5 REVO: World Stage
- Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (also known as Darkstalkers 3)
- BlazBlue: Central Fiction
- 2XKO
You would have expected most of these games to be present, but there are a few talking points.
It’s fantastic to see the BlazBlue series back! Arc System Works is clearly focusing on its anime-style fighting games, as evidenced by the recent announcement of BlazBlue Entropy Effect X for PlayStation 5.
It’s also great news that Invincible is moving forward, especially since, like Tokon, it’s currently only slated for a 2026 release. This means we can likely expect the animated adaptation of the violent superhero story to arrive sometime in the near future.
You might have also noticed that Mortal Kombat isn’t included. The popular fighting game series has seen a decline in competitive play. The latest version, Mortal Kombat 1 released in 2023, didn’t manage to hold the interest of professional players or their fans, leading to its removal from the competition.
Evo 2026 is happening June 26th-28th next year! Are you planning to tune in? Let us know which games you’re most hyped about in the comments!
