Ewan McGregor Had An A+ Reaction When Watching Andor Season 2

The *Star Wars* franchise has faced some uncertainty recently. New content has primarily been released as Disney+ TV series instead of major theatrical films. But that’s changing, with new movies like *The Mandalorian and Grogu* and a Ryan Gosling-led *Star Wars: Starfighter* on the way. Meanwhile, Ewan McGregor is still focused on developing future *Star Wars* stories for television.

Ewan McGregor recently told Collider at Fan Expo Canada that he had just finished watching both seasons of *Andor*. The show has been praised as one of the strongest *Star Wars* series, and McGregor himself is so impressed he’d like to be a part of it. He went on to say…

Okay, so I have to admit, when I heard about the latest season, my first thought was, ‘Wow, I could totally fit into this storyline!’ I got really excited imagining myself in season three, but then reality hit. I started thinking, ‘Maybe, just maybe, if the timing had been right…’ There’s always a little hope that a parallel story could emerge, something that intersects with what’s already happening. So, Disney, if anyone’s listening – and this is purely hypothetical, of course – I’m just saying, there’s potential here! Come on, make it happen!

Both *Andor* and the *Obi-Wan Kenobi* series take place between the events of the prequel and original *Star Wars* trilogies. Because of this, Ewan McGregor is correct in saying that characters and storylines could easily connect without needing complicated explanations.

However, there are a few challenges with the idea of characters crossing over. First, *Andor* was always intended to have just two seasons, and there aren’t any plans for more. Second, the second season of *Andor* leads directly into the story of *Rogue One: A Star Wars Story*, where the main character dies. This makes it difficult to imagine how Andor and Obi-Wan could realistically team up.

Disney+ offers streaming access to popular shows like *Star Wars: Andor* and *Obi-Wan Kenobi*. You can subscribe for as little as $9.99 per month with ads. For an ad-free experience, it’s $15.99 monthly, or you can save 16% by paying $159.99 for a full year. See the deal here.

Despite this, there’s been talk about a possible second season of *Obi-Wan Kenobi*. Ewan McGregor, who plays Obi-Wan, seems optimistic it will happen. Given that the first season of *Andor* spanned four years, there are definitely unexplored parts of Kenobi’s story that could be developed. This opens up opportunities for characters from both shows to meet, even without Andor appearing. It would also be relatively easy to have Obi-Wan interact with other characters from the series, further connecting the shows.

Even though it’s a long shot, I’d be thrilled to see it happen. *Andor* stood out because it didn’t focus on Jedi, which made it a really fresh *Star Wars* show. Forget about dream team-ups for now – go stream it on Disney+ along with *Obi-Wan Kenobi* and the other *Star Wars* series!
