Disney Plus will be debuting Marvel Animation’s new series coming up next month, delving into the rich history of a beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe location – the nation of Wakanda.
The fictional nation has long been the residence of the Black Panther, a role that was last fulfilled by King T’Challa (the late Chadwick Boseman) and his sister Shuri (Letitia Wright). They are set to return in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday.
Before the highly anticipated blockbuster movie, we have “Eyes of Wakanda,” a four-part animated series, which delves into the country’s history. The story primarily focuses on the tense relationship between a secret agent and a warlord turncoat.
The extended project under construction has stirred interest as well, due to its commitment to reintroduce Iron Fist mythology within the Marvel Cinematic Universe – this time by showcasing a character from ancient times (in essence, not the Danny Rand portrayed by Finn Jones).
Similarly to Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda is overseen by acclaimed director Ryan Coogler (known for Sinners), who has significantly contributed to the worldwide success of the Black Panther series from Marvel.
As a devoted film enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement over the upcoming Marvel masterpiece, “The Eyes of Wakanda,” landing swiftly on Disney Plus. If you’re intrigued and eager for more details, stay tuned!
Eyes of Wakanda release date
Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda will be available to stream on Disney Plus from Friday 1st August 2025.
The show’s release schedule has been quite flexible, with an exciting preview released last year promising a premiere on the 6th of August. However, this date was pushed back to the 27th of August before ultimately being moved up to the beginning of the month itself.
Remarkably, the latest adjustment in the release dates brought about minimal warning, leaving fans merely a week’s time to rearrange their viewing schedules for the upcoming Marvel miniseries. Notably, all four episodes of the series are set to drop simultaneously.

Eyes of Wakanda plot: What is it about?

The upcoming Marvel film, “Eyes of Wakanda,” promises to delve into the grand history of the Black Panther’s homeland and unveil uncharted territories within Wakanda that haven’t been showcased in previous live-action movies.
According to Todd Harris, the show’s mastermind, the primary aim was to accomplish something that movies often struggle with – expanding the universe. (source: Entertainment Weekly)
This country has numerous postal codes. Expanding the global setting was primarily what Ryan managed, given a bit more time and some additional chances at gathering places.
Harris remarked, “These elements have persisted for such a duration… significantly expanding the lore of Wakanda.
This official summary from Marvel.com hints that Eyes of Wakanda chronicles the thrilling journeys of valiant Wakandan soldiers across time.
In this thrilling world tour, our protagonists will undertake perilous tasks to seize Vibranium artifacts from the adversaries of Wakanda, known as the Hatut Zaraze. This narrative follows their journey.
The Eyes of Wakanda series, while not seeming to include any familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe characters yet, is set to reintroduce the Iron Fist role, which has been absent for a while. This new portrayal actually predates Danny Rand (played by Finn Jones), giving us a fresh take on the character.
