I’m really intrigued by Damson Idris’s latest move. Fresh off his acclaimed work alongside Brad Pitt in F1, he’s now signed on for The Lords’ Day, a new Netflix series. It’s based on the novel by Michael Dobbs, and I’m expecting big things – Idris is definitely one to watch.
As a huge fan of political dramas, I always associate the name Dobbs with ‘House of Cards‘. He’s a Conservative politician and a member of the House of Lords, but most people – myself included – know him as the brilliant mind behind that incredible trilogy. It’s fascinating to me that it’s been brought to life twice on screen – first as a BBC series back in 1990, and then with the hugely popular Netflix show that ran for several years starting in 2013.
Idris will serve as an executive producer for the series. It’s being produced by Bad Wolf, the company known for the latest season of Doctor Who, and other shows like Industry and Dope Girls.
Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch from Bad Wolf will oversee the project as executive producers. Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, known for their work on ‘Better,’ will lead the writing and also serve as executive producers. Ben Chanan, who created and directed the first season of ‘The Capture,’ will direct and executive produce ‘The Lords’ Day’.

This six-episode series is a thrilling, action-packed story set within the British government. It begins on the day Parliament officially opens, when spy Harry Jones (played by Idris Elba) is trapped inside the building during a lockdown.
With the siege growing more intense, people’s allegiances are questioned and many risk everything to survive. It’s a brutal struggle, and not everyone will make it. The question is, can Harry rely on his abilities to save the nation?

Besides being known for his work in Formula 1, Idris has also acted in popular TV shows like Miranda, Casualty, Snowfall, The Twilight Zone, Black Mirror, and Swarm. He’s also appeared in films including The Commuter and Outside the Wire.
Filming for The Lords’ Day will start later this year, and more information about the actors will be revealed soon.
