Okay, let me tell you, Fallout Season 2 is here and it’s a blast! They’ve brilliantly brought the world of New Vegas – a fan favorite from the games – to life. We continue following Lucy MacLean, played by Ella Purnell, on her wild journey through the wasteland, and it’s just as captivating as you’d hope.
In season 2, the optimistic survivor teams up with the experienced mercenary, The Ghoul (Walton Goggins), as she searches for her father and discovers he’s not the simple hero she believed him to be.
Aaron Moten, who plays Maximus, Kyle MacLachlan as Hank, and Frances Turner as Barb, are all back for another season. Joining them is Justin Theroux, who will play the video game villain Robert House.
He made his debut in the season 2 premiere, which is currently available on Prime Video. While he’s already appeared, other well-known actors like Macaulay Culkin (from American Horror Story) and Kumail Nanjiani (from Only Murders in the Building) are set to join the show later.

Ella Purnell plays Lucy MacLean

Lucy is a young woman living in an underground vault in a post-apocalyptic America, built to shield people from radiation after a nuclear disaster. Despite the devastation around her, she remains surprisingly positive.
Recent events have pushed her to leave the safety of her bunker, and she’s been tested by the challenges she’s faced. She discovered her father isn’t who she thought he was and is now determined to make him answer for his actions. To achieve this, she’s formed a fragile partnership with a dangerous mercenary called The Ghoul.
Ella Purnell is known for her roles in several popular projects. Recently, she starred in the thriller Yellowjackets and the zombie film Army of the Dead. She’s also appeared in Belgravia and Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and provided voice work for Arcane, Invincible, and Star Trek: Prodigy. Currently, alongside Fallout, she’s starring in the darkly comedic drama Sweetpea as a seemingly ordinary serial killer.
Walton Goggins plays The Ghoul/Cooper Howard

Cooper Howard, also known as The Ghoul, has a surprising past. He used to be an actor and spokesperson for the Vault-Tec Corporation. Now, centuries later, he’s a tough but honorable mercenary wandering the post-apocalyptic wasteland. The game Fallout explores both his life before and after the bombs dropped, and actor Walton Goggins has called playing both versions of the character a fantastic acting challenge.
As a critic, I found the actor’s explanation of his approach fascinating. He really dug deep to portray Howard, emphasizing the need to embody a relentless optimism – a true belief in American ideals, shaped by his upbringing. It wasn’t just about playing a cheerful guy, though. He had to understand that same unwavering positivity to then convincingly portray the utter darkness and cynicism of his villainous alter ego, The Ghoul. It’s a brilliant contrast, and he clearly put a lot of thought into how those two sides of the same coin would manifest on screen.
He’s a complex character – a bit of a reluctant hero, or maybe an anti-hero. His cynicism feels like a core part of who he is. He’s been through a lot and fallen from a good place, and as the story unfolds, you’ll see just how much those experiences have changed him.

Okay, so you loved Walton Goggins in The White Lotus? Smart move – he’s fantastic! But honestly, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Before that, he really made a name for himself in gritty crime dramas like The Shield and Justified – and even popped up in the Justified revival, City Primeval. He’s a voice you’ll recognize too, as Cecil in the animated series Invincible. And if you’re a moviegoer, you’ve probably spotted him in supporting roles in films like Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and even a Marvel flick, Ant-Man and the Wasp. The guy’s been consistently great for years!
Aaron Moten plays Maximus

Maximus is a soldier dedicated to the Brotherhood of Steel, a group striving to restore order to the dangerous wasteland. He firmly believes in their mission and will do whatever it takes to help them succeed. However, the organization’s harsh methods have sometimes made him wonder if his loyalty is truly justified.
Season 2 will reveal how he first got involved with the group, and we’ll watch Maximus continue his journey of self-discovery and try to figure things out.
Aaron Moten has appeared in several popular shows and films. You might recognize him from HBO’s The Night Of, Mozart in the Jungle on Prime Video, or Disjointed on Netflix. He’s also been in the movies Father Stu with Mark Wahlberg and Emancipation starring Will Smith.
Kyle MacLachlan plays Hank MacLean

Hank is Lucy’s father and was the leader of their vault, known as an ‘overseer’. Overseers are a powerful position with different interpretations – some act as guides, while others become controlling leaders. Hank initially seemed like the former, but the first season showed he’s more complex than he appears.
MacLachlan explained that while his character seems to be acting with bad intentions, he genuinely believes he’s working towards a positive outcome for the company and its mission. He sees himself as a force for good, even if his approach is misguided.
As a movie buff, I’ve always loved Kyle MacLachlan – he’s fantastic! You probably know him best from his work with David Lynch, like the amazing Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, and he was even in the original Dune movie. But he’s been in so much else! I remember seeing him in Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives, and more recently, he’s done Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Oh, and he voices the dad in Pixar’s Inside Out movies, which is pretty cool – I didn’t even realize that was him at first!
He recently starred in the Prime Video sitcom Overcompensating, which was produced by Charli XCX and has been picked up for another season.
Frances Turner plays Barb

Barb was Cooper’s wife before the events of the show. As Cooper investigated his past in season 1, he discovered that she wasn’t as innocent as he thought and played a major role in causing the apocalypse.
If you enjoy Frances Turner’s work, you might have seen her in shows like the sci-fi series The Gifted and The Boys, or the medical drama New Amsterdam. She also played a role in the last three movies of the After series, which are romantic dramas available on Prime Video.
Justin Theroux plays Robert House

Robert House is a powerful tech executive who is extremely driven and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants.
According to executive producer Nolan, the character House is a brilliant, calculating, and fiercely protective figure. He’s a compelling mix of traits we often find fascinating, almost like a dark fairytale, and he’s simply a lot of fun to watch. As a fan of the original game, Nolan believes it would have been a letdown if House hadn’t been included.
Justin Theroux is famous for his work in shows like Six Feet Under, The Leftovers, and The Mosquito Coast. Recently, he’s been seen in the Netflix comedy Running Point and the mystery series Poker Face. Interestingly, he’s also related to documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux – they’re cousins!
Matt Berry plays Mr Handy / Sebastian Leslie

As a big fan of the Fallout universe, I’ve always been fascinated by Mr. Handy! He’s basically the robotic helper you see in the vaults, usually working for the Overseer – doing everything from chores to defending against threats in the wasteland. But here’s a cool bit of lore: the voice of Mr. Handy is actually provided by Sebastian Leslie, a pre-war actor. It’s neat because he was a contemporary of Cooper Howard, the character voiced by Goggins – a little connection that adds to the richness of the Fallout world!
Matt Berry first became well-known in the UK for his work on funny shows like Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, The IT Crowd, Toast of London, and Year of the Rabbit. He later gained international recognition for his role in the FX series, What We Do in the Shadows.
Sarita Choudhury plays Moldaver

Who is Moldaver? The central antagonist in the show, after taking Lucy’s father, Hank, hostage.
Sarita Choudhury is an actress who has appeared in popular shows like Homeland and Jessica Jones, and the comedy-drama And Just Like That…. She’s also known for her roles in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (parts 1 & 2) and the film The Green Knight, where she acted alongside Dev Patel.
Annabel O’Hagan plays Steph

Steph is first seen in season 1 as a good friend of Lucy’s. After a dangerous attack on their vault leaves Steph seriously injured, they are separated. Luckily, Steph survives and eventually becomes an overseer at another vault.
Besides her current role, Annabel O’Hagan has also appeared in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Moisés Arias plays Norm

Norm is Lucy’s brother. He initially seemed shy and hesitant, but the events of the first season pushed him to confront difficult truths about his family. Unfortunately, this led to his arrest and imprisonment.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet, a co-creator of Fallout, described Norm as a beloved character who acts like a detective. She explained that he’s brave but reserved, and consistently seeks to reveal the hidden truths about his surroundings and the vault he calls home.
Besides Hannah Montana, where he played Rico, Moisés Arias has also appeared in other projects. He’s most recognizable for his role as Rico on the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana.
Leslie Uggams plays Betty

Who is Betty? A resident of Vault 33 and an authoritative member of their committee.
Leslie Uggams has had a long and successful career! You might recognize her from the original “Roots” miniseries, or more recently from shows like “Empire” and “New Amsterdam.” She’s also appeared in films like the Academy Award-winning “American Fiction” and played Blind Al in the “Deadpool” movies.
Zach Cherry plays Woody Thomas

Who is Woody? Woody is a resident of Vault 33 and another member of their decision-making panel.
Zach Cherry is best known for his roles as Dylan in the Apple TV+ series Severance and Kevin in the HBO comedy Crashing. He’s also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Klev in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Shang-Chi. Additionally, he was in the critically acclaimed film You Hurt My Feelings, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
