Fallout Season 2 Release Date & Time: When New Episodes Drop on Prime Video

The show is returning for a second season! Following a fantastic first season, the series based on the video game is already in production to deliver new episodes to viewers every year.

The first season of Fallout was a bold attempt to bring a popular video game to television, especially following the huge success of HBO’s The Last of Us. While Fallout tells a new story, separate from the games’ plots, this actually strengthens the show. Because it’s an original narrative set within the same world, viewers are kept guessing. Anyone looking for a great TV series will find themselves eagerly awaiting each new episode and its unfolding mysteries.

When Do New Fallout Episodes Release?

The second season of Fallout was initially planned to debut on December 17, 2025. However, Prime Video unexpectedly revealed at an event in Las Vegas that it will arrive much sooner. This announcement felt especially appropriate, as the new season takes place in New Vegas.

Although the first episode is coming out a little earlier as a special Christmas treat, new episodes will still be released every Wednesday. The show will be streaming on Prime Video until the season finale – Episode 8 – which will be available on February 4, 2026.

Okay, Prime Video fans, mark your calendars! Season 2 kicks off December 16th at 9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific. After that first episode, new installments will arrive every Wednesday at 3 AM Eastern, midnight Pacific. But the best part? Don’t stress if you miss the initial drop – everything will be available to stream whenever you’re ready. That’s the perk of watching on demand!

The release schedule has been updated, with all episodes becoming available in April 2024. This change is likely due to the success of Fallout, which suggests viewers will enjoy watching the series over a longer period of eight weeks. However, Prime Video will need to rebuild trust with subscribers after a poorly received AI-generated recap of Season 1 was released and then removed following negative feedback.

What Happened in Fallout Season 1?

It hasn’t been long since the first season of Fallout came out, but with so many new shows releasing in the next couple of years, you might need a refresher. Season 1 is set in 2296 and follows Lucy MacLean (played by Ella Purnell), a woman living in an underground vault. The story takes place over 200 years after a nuclear war in 2077 between the United States and China turned the world into a broken, yet strangely retro, wasteland.

Lucy ventures out of her sheltered vault to search for her father, Kyle MacLachlan, after he’s kidnapped by bandits. However, she shockingly discovers he was the one who ordered the nuclear attack on Shady Sands and caused her mother’s transformation into a ghoul. Hank escapes to New Vegas, and Lucy decides to team up with him to locate the original leaders of Vault-Tec in hopes of finding his family. At the same time, Maximus is recognized as a hero by the Brotherhood of Steel, who mistakenly believe he was responsible for the death of Moldaver.

Norm investigates a new discovery by himself, while Lucy and the Ghoul are forced to team up to get what they want. Their relationship has been difficult from the beginning, and it’s likely to get even more complicated. However, viewers hoping for a romance between Lucy and the Ghoul will probably enjoy watching their struggles play out.

The show is inspired by the game Fallout: New Vegas, but it’s not a direct copy. Like previous seasons, Season 1 features some well-known guest stars. For Season 2, Macaulay Culkin, Justin Theroux, and Kumail Nanjiani have been confirmed as new cast members, though more actors are likely being kept under wraps. Viewers will have to tune in each week to see who else joins the cast.

Fallout Season 2 premieres December 17, 2026, on Prime Video.
