Family Guy Creator And Cast Talk Lois And Stewie’s Long-Awaited Confrontation

For years, Family Guy has fueled tension within the Griffith household, as Stewie harbors a persistent wish to get rid of his mother Lois. Despite recent changes, the youngest Griffith still occasionally tries to carry out his initial plan. At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, the long-standing animated series suggested that Lois and Stewie might finally engage in a dialogue for the first time. In a recent interview, a Family Guy executive producer and cast members hinted at the impending family argument set to unfold in the upcoming season.

In the upcoming episode of Family Guy, Lois will be under some kind of influence, enabling her to speak with Stewie for the very first time. Previously, their family dog Brian has been the one who converses with Stewie. However, it appears that this dynamic is set to change in season 24. According to executive producer Alex Sulkin, this unusual interaction might be the central theme of the 450th episode of the series, which is expected to air during the next season. Intriguingly, due to some peculiar circumstances, they will be able to communicate with each other for the first time in the show’s history. They have a lot to share, and it’s bound to be an interesting conversation.

Lois Vs. Stewie

During the interview, Sulkin mentioned that Stewie and Lois might have a conversation about their past, delving into topics that could involve Stewie’s attempts to harm his mother. He explained, “They indeed discuss it, but differently than one might expect. Alex’s point is valid; they don’t casually reminisce like, “Remember when…” and flashback. Instead, it’s more along the lines of Stewie asking Lois, “Why do you provoke me so?” or similar introspective conversations.

In simpler terms, Alex Borstein, who voices Lois, shared that they staged a real-world performance of the scene for a more authentic feel, saying, “We did some genuine acting, had a live reading which was quite emotional and fascinating.” Later, Borstein talked about her contrasting methods in recording Lois’ lines then and now. During the pandemic, she found it challenging to set up a makeshift recording booth abroad as she was living far from home. The setup included a tent meant for growing marijuana, which was poor at ventilation and had wool blankets on the walls to improve sound quality. However, the heat made her uncomfortable, and the sound quality wasn’t great either. She prefers the current recording process better since they have returned to it after the pandemic.

The popular show Family Guy is coming back for its twenty-fourth season next year, and on October 6th, you can watch a special Halloween episode on Hulu. Currently, the animated series has been renewed up to season 27, implying that we have many more years of the Griffin family to enjoy.
