Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake, originally released in 1998 and updated in 2019, is a standout title for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and remains one of the most highly regarded games in recent years.
But now it’s getting a third adaptation, courtesy of Bandai Namco.
A revamped version of this beloved classic game is coming to arcades, and will now be played as a rail shooter.
This advanced cabinet features the latest technology, like 3D sound, vibrating floors, and even air blasts. Paired with high-tech light guns, it’s designed to fully immerse players in the world of the Raccoon City Police Department.
Testing is starting in Japan later this month, and a trailer showcasing the game is now available. It features familiar enemies, including the iconic Mr. X.
This new version of the game lets two players team up for co-op gameplay. Unlike the first game, you’ll play as both Leon and Claire at the same time, fighting alongside each other instead of controlling them separately.
It’s exciting to see a new lightgun game in the Resident Evil series! The franchise has a long-standing tradition with rail shooter games, especially the popular Survivor titles originally released on PlayStation 1 and 2.
This game likely won’t be available anywhere except arcades, so finding a way to play it might take some effort.
