After a decade-long hiatus, a widely adored anime series is set to return for a new season, sending fans into a frenzy as they eagerly await the next chapter. With Anime Expo 2025 and Japan Expo 2025 in full swing, there’s an abundance of fresh content for anime enthusiasts to look forward to. So far, it’s been one unexpected revelation after another, but this comeback promises to be one of the most shocking ones yet, as the anime based on Takumi Yanai, Daisuke Izuka, and Kurojishi’s Gate light novel series is making a reappearance.
Back in 2015, “Gate” initially premiered with its screen adaptation, and the second half of the initial season concluded its broadcast the following year without any indication of future installments. Since then, fans have eagerly anticipated the anime’s return, and now, as part of its tenth anniversary celebration, it has been confirmed that “Gate” Season 2 is in production. Get ready, everyone! The long wait for more episodes is coming to an end as the sequel gets set to premiere.

What to Know for Gate Season 2
Based on the official anime website’s announcement with Oshi, the second season of Gate is officially titled Gate: Tides of Conflict. This upcoming TV anime was announced as part of the celebration for the anime’s tenth anniversary and will adapt the first two volumes of the sequel series. As of now, there’s no confirmed release window or date. However, it has been confirmed that Toru Takahashi will be directing the new season at Studio M2. Tatsuhiko Urahata will oversee the scripts, while Shigeru Fujita will handle character designs; some initial designs have already been unveiled (as seen above).
Kasagi Labo, Oshi, and GENCO are set to produce the upcoming series of this anime, with hints that fans may even have a role in its development. At the moment, it’s still unclear if any actors from the initial season will return for their roles. Since it appears to be a fresh storyline rather than a continuation of the first season, there might be significant differences.
