Fan-Favorite Star Wars Character Returning in The Mandalorian and Grogu

Next year, Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) and Grogu will star in a new movie called The Mandalorian and Grogu. In their next adventure, they’ll join forces with some new friends, including a popular character from another Star Wars series.

What fan-favorite character will appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu?

Director Jon Favreau explains that Din Djarin has changed and now aims to cooperate with the New Republic instead of opposing them.

According to creator Jon Favreau, Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, is shifting his focus. As he states towards the end of Season 3, he’s no longer interested in simply taking on mercenary work; he wants to dedicate himself to helping those who are fighting for what’s right.

Mando will team up with a new character named Zeb Orrelios, a member of the Lasat species. Zeb is famous for being a key figure in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, where he was an honor guard who fought against the Empire. He previously made a quick appearance in Season 3 of The Mandalorian.

Favreau expressed his excitement about adding Zeb to the movie, describing him as a really engaging character. He believes Zeb’s strong voice, confident attitude, and physical prowess make him appealing even to viewers who aren’t familiar with the ‘Rebels’ series.

Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, the Mandalorian. The cast also features Sigourney Weaver playing Ward and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt.

With the Empire defeated, its former commanders are still operating across the galaxy. The newly formed New Republic is trying to safeguard the freedom won by the Rebellion, and they’ve asked the skilled bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young companion, Grogu, to help.

Jon Favreau directs and co-wrote the screenplay for The Mandalorian movie with Dave Filoni. They’ll all produce the film, along with Kathleen Kennedy and Ian Bryce. The movie continues the story from the popular Disney+ series, The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will open in theaters on May 22, 2026.
