Fans are excited about a remake of a popular Star Wars game, and it could potentially be even better than the original. Over the years, the Star Wars story has grown massively through movies, TV shows, books, and video games. While the films are central to the franchise, other forms of media have been very successful at keeping fans engaged. Video games, especially, have done a great job of expanding the Star Wars universe with different types of gameplay – from role-playing games to action shooters and story-focused adventures. Unfortunately, some of these games spawned their own ideas that were never fully developed.
Knights of the Old Republic is a hugely popular part of the Star Wars universe, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a remake for years. There’s a chance we might finally see an update on the project at The Game Awards later this year, though nothing is official yet. Despite rumors that the remake was cancelled after a change in development teams, reports suggest it’s still being worked on. Beyond that, Disney may also be planning remakes of other classic Star Wars games.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 Remake in the Works

Disney is reportedly working on a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, according to journalist Stephen Totilo. This information came to light during a lawsuit against Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr Media, which were accused of falsely advertising a re-release of Knights of the Old Republic 2 that would include previously cut content. Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilly testified that the companies discussed a remake, internally called “Juliet,” which would have incorporated that missing content into the game.
As of March 2025, a remake of the game was still planned, but no longer with Aspyr as the developer. This is notable because the first game in the series isn’t even released yet, and it’s unclear how close it is to completion. Currently, the focus is on Mad Head Games finishing the remake of the original Knights of the Old Republic. While a Knights of the Old Republic 2 remake would be a major undertaking, many fans consider the original sequel to be incomplete due to cut content, which led to a hurried story and unresolved plot points.
