As a huge animation fan, it’s awesome to see creators taking different paths these days. Sure, everyone dreams of working at places like Disney or Netflix, but more and more artists are going independent, and it’s paying off! I was thrilled to hear Dana Terrace, the genius behind The Owl House, is continuing that story with a graphic novel sequel coming out this year. But that’s not all – her original animated pilot is blowing up! It already has over sixteen million views on YouTube, and now it’s getting a full series! It’s so cool to see passion projects like that really take off.
Four months ago, a new animated series called The Knights of Guinevere launched online, offering a more sophisticated story than Dana Terrace’s previous work on Disney Channel. Kevin Lerdwichagul, CEO of Glitch Productions (the studio that helped create the pilot), shared how quickly the episode gained a following. He expressed amazement at the immediate connection with viewers, the fan theories, artwork, and overall community support that came from releasing the content first on YouTube. As Glitch Productions’ first 2D animated project, Knights of Guinevere presented many new challenges in both production and marketing, making the positive fan response especially rewarding for the team.
Guinevere’s Knights Will Return
You can now watch the pilot episode of Knights of Guinevere for free on YouTube! The story is set on Park Planet, a massive amusement park floating in the sky. At the heart of the park is Princess Guinevere, an android mascot created by the park’s engineers and beloved by all. However, beneath the park’s dazzling surface lies a disturbing mystery connected to its owners. The park looms over the towns below, and the story focuses on one of them, called M7.
Dana Terrace is one of the many talented animators who are currently reshaping the entertainment industry. She works alongside creators like Alex Hirsch (known for Gravity Falls), Matt Braly (Amphibia), and Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe). Recently, Braly and Sugar’s planned animated movie with Sony was unfortunately canceled – many thought it had the potential to be a huge hit, similar to KPop Demon Hunters. However, with Glitch Productions giving animators more creative freedom, we can likely expect even more exciting projects from these artists in the future. While the exact number of episodes for Knights of Guinevere hasn’t been announced yet, fans are still eagerly anticipating its release.
