
As a long-time fan, I know that live events can have hiccups, and even the amazing WWE team isn’t immune to things going wrong sometimes. Most of the show was perfect, but there was a bit of a surprise during Cody Rhodes‘ entrance. Both Cody and the crowd were taken off guard when a key part of his entrance didn’t quite work as planned! You can check it out below to see what happened. It was definitely a little unexpected!
Ahead of his match at Crown Jewel for the Crown Jewel Championship, Rhodes was preparing for a face-off with Seth Rollins. Before they could meet in the ring, Rhodes made his entrance – a move that’s become incredibly popular with fans since his return to WWE. However, this time something was noticeably absent, and it was obvious to Rhodes, the audience, and even the commentators (via @Fightful).

When Rhodes delivered his signature “whooaaa” during his entrance, the crowd happily sang along with him. The next big moment was supposed to be a spectacular pyro display just before he walked towards the ring. But, as you can see in the video above, that didn’t happen. Everyone was looking up, anticipating the fireworks, and just… waiting. It was a bit of a letdown, to be honest.
Rhodes appeared confused, taking a moment to process what had happened, but the effect he expected never materialized. He then simply moved on to engage with the fans, and the commentators quickly reacted. Wade Barrett acknowledged the sudden disappearance of the pyrotechnics, stating, “No pyro, no problem.”

It’s more amusing than truly problematic when a pyro display doesn’t go off during an entrance, but it happened right after a SmackDown ending that didn’t quite hit the mark. That ending was a much larger issue because it involved the conclusion of a match, whereas this is just an entrance glitch. Still, WWE would naturally prefer to avoid either problem, particularly on live television. It’s just bad timing.
A notable moment on SmackDown occurred during the WWE Women’s Championship match featuring Tiffany Stratton, Nia Jax, and Jade Cargill. During the match, Jade Cargill suffered a cut that was visibly bleeding. Stratton then tried to capitalize by attempting to pin Jax while Cargill was down, but Jax didn’t kick out at the count of three. The referee seemed to intentionally obscure this and only counted to two, suggesting this was a pre-planned outcome.
The crowd didn’t react positively to that, but luckily the match didn’t go on for much longer, and Stratton ultimately won. Now, Stratton is scheduled to compete against WWE World Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer at Crown Jewel, and along with the match between Rhodes and Rollins, WWE fans can look forward to two exciting fights. We’re just hoping everything runs smoothly at the next event.
