The Chainsaw Man movie, which premiered in Japan in early September, is now playing in U.S. theaters and is receiving a much more positive response from fans than Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. As the second most anticipated anime film of the year after Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc adapts the next story arc from the series. MAPPA Studio has once again done an excellent job bringing the source material to life, and this cinematic adaptation is particularly strong. As a result, the Chainsaw Man movie has significantly outperformed Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle in ratings on the popular anime community site, MyAnimeList.
The Chainsaw Man movie is receiving incredible reviews! Just days after its release, it currently has a 9.17 rating on MyAnimeList, with over 190,000 fans having rated it. It’s already surpassed Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (which has a score of 8.73 from over 280,000 fans) and even moved past the highly-rated Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (9.10). This makes Chainsaw Man the second highest-rated anime of all time on the site. If it keeps gaining popularity, it could even become number one!
Fans Crown Chainsaw Man Movie With a Much Higher Rating Than Demon Slayer on MyAnimeList
The movie ‘CHAINSAW MAN -Reze Arc-‘ has climbed to become the second highest-rated anime series ever on MyAnimeList, achieving a score of 9.13.

For years, MyAnimeList has been a popular hub for anime and manga enthusiasts, where fans track, review, and talk about the shows and comics they love. Because the site’s ratings come from real viewers, the fact that the Chainsaw Man movie received a higher score than the Demon Slayer movie suggests it’s the better film. This isn’t just speculation – the Demon Slayer movie feels more like a long anime episode stretched into movie length, with uneven pacing and storytelling. The Chainsaw Man movie, however, is well-made and feels like a proper cinematic experience, not just a collection of episodes.
The Chainsaw Man movie successfully adapted a smaller story arc from the source material, even improving upon it without needing to remove important scenes. In contrast, the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie required some minor cuts to adjust the pacing. Although Chainsaw Man likely won’t match Demon Slayer‘s huge box office success, fans generally agree it’s a better anime movie. With its ratings climbing, the Chainsaw Man movie might soon surpass Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and become the highest-rated anime film ever.
