Do you remember playing Hardware: Online Arena on PlayStation 2 or Hardware: Rivals on PlayStation 4? If you do, we’ve got a lot of respect for you!
TankRat feels a bit like an older Sony game series, though it’s probably more similar to popular titles like World of Tanks or Crossout.
This game is a fast-paced, action-packed driving experience focused on combat. Importantly, it’s designed for a single player, meaning you won’t be competing against others.
Here’s the blurb:
Explore the dangerous Dead Zone as a fast, nimble Needle or a heavily armed Tank, switching between them to overcome challenges. You’ll need to search the ruins of a lost civilization for anything useful to improve your machine. Defeat enemies, salvage parts from their remains – weapons, armor, and technology – and use those pieces to upgrade your own vehicle. Each journey into the wasteland is an opportunity to rebuild, customize, and return more powerful than before.

This game blends the challenging replayability of a roguelite with fast-paced vehicle combat. You’ll improve your tank by collecting new parts as you defeat enemies, giving you an edge in battle.
The idea sounds promising, and we already enjoyed Pacific Drive, even though it had a different feel but shared the same goal of combining cars with roguelite gameplay.
The game’s due out in Spring 2026.
