Fans Wonder if The Game Awards’ Big Finale Highguard Is Even Coming Out

You’d expect performing as the last act on a show with millions of viewers to boost your career, right?

For Highguard, the new free-to-play shooter made by the creators of Titanfall and Apex Legends, its potential success could surprisingly be a problem.

PlayStation 5 players know how quickly online multiplayer news can spark strong criticism. This happened with the game Concord, effectively halting its development, and could likely harm the prospects of Fairgames and 4Loop as well.

The upcoming game Highguard, set to launch on January 26th, has received overwhelmingly negative feedback from gamers.

While it was meant to be a grand finale at The Game Awards, the game’s presentation didn’t go over well with audiences. Now, Forbes points out that the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube pages haven’t been updated in nearly a month, leading people to wonder if the game will actually be released.

Considering the strong negative reaction, Wildlight Entertainment might have temporarily stopped all marketing efforts until the game is released. It’s generally more effective to show players a playable version of the game before trying to win them over.

The studio will likely need to make an announcement soon, one way or another – either confirming a delay or sticking to their original release plan. The fact that there isn’t even a listing on the PlayStation Store to add to a wishlist is also a bit concerning.

We’ll try and reach out to the studio and will update if we hear anything back.
