Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Rotten Tomatoes score finally revealed after wave of reviews

Kickoff for Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is imminent as “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” hits theaters, and we’ve gained insights into the initial reactions from movie critics who’ve already watched it.

The first Rotten Tomatoes rating for the movie has been published, which indicates the proportion of the reviews so far that are favorable rather than critical.

As I write this on July 23rd, the movie has garnered a Tomatometer rating of 86%, based on 130 reviews, making it the highest-rated Fantastic Four film release so far and a promising commencement for Phase 6.

It sits just behind the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Thunderbolts,” which currently stands at 88%, but surpasses all other films from Phase 5, including “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “The Marvels,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

In the 37th Marvel Cinematic Universe film titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” we meet Pedro Pascal portraying Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn stepping into the role of Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach bringing Ben Grimm/The Thing to life. This film is one of the shorter ones in the series so far.

In a separate, futuristic universe distinct from the main Marvel Cinatic Universe, these character versions initially reside. But with their upcoming appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, and taking into account the Thunderbolts post-credits scene*, it seems their stay there might not be permanent.

*Assuming readers are familiar with the MCU’s Thunderbolts reference.

This year’s final Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is coming up, with more Disney+ ventures lined up afterwards.

Next year, fans can anticipate the return of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the big screen in the movie titled “Spider-Man: Fresh Start,” while towards the end of the year, they will experience “Avengers: The Last Stand,” marking the first Avengers film since 2019’s “Endgame.
