Father Brown has unveiled a host of new images from its upcoming 13th season.
The hit BBC crime show is back with new episodes next week, and we’re getting a first glimpse of the returning cast.
I’m really excited to hear Mark Williams is returning as Father Brown! It’s great that so many of the original cast are coming back too – John Burton as Sergeant Goodfellow, Ruby-May Martinwood as Brenda Palmer, Tom Chambers as Inspector Sullivan, and Claudie Blakley as Mrs. Sullivan, who we used to know as Mrs. Devine. It wouldn’t be the same without them!
Good news for fans: Sorcha Cusack, who plays Bridgette McCarthy (seen in the image below), will make a guest appearance in the very first episode!

Father Brown is in for a difficult time. After a visit to Father Lazarus in prison, he finds himself caught in a dangerous game with a killer. Adding to his troubles, a new Bishop, Fox, arrives with a plan for revenge that could drastically alter life in Kembleford.
Actor Mark Williams hinted at a difficult situation for his character, Father Brown, saying the problem seems impossible to fix – until a lucky break occurs. He also mentioned they had a lot of fun filming the episode, particularly some impressive bicycle stunts.

Let me tell you, this next season is packed with some fantastic faces! We’re talking Dame Maureen Lipman, Julia Sawalha, Phil Daniels – seriously impressive talent! Plus, you’ll spot Debra Stephenson, Phil Cornwell, and Davood Ghadami popping up in these ten new episodes. It’s a real treat for fans to see so many familiar and beloved actors joining the cast.
Williams shared that he’s always grateful when actors choose to be part of the show, and he really enjoys working with them – it’s one of the best parts of his job.
With each new series, we get different guest actors – like Phil Daniels and Phil Cornwell this time around – which is fantastic. I honestly just enjoy watching them perform. Sometimes I even get lost in their performances and forget I’m supposed to be acting myself!

The latest episodes feature a visit to the made-up coastal town of Brockton on Sea, Sergeant Goodfellow giving Brenda driving lessons, and the Sullivans learning the ropes as a newly married couple.
The TV series Father Brown is inspired by the famous character created by G.K. Chesterton, and it’s become popular not just in the UK, but also in countries like the US, Canada, Australia, and India.

Father Brown returns on Friday 9th January at 2pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
