Remedy Entertainment is launching a significant update for their co-op shooter, *FBC: Firebreak*, called “Breakpoint” on September 29th at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time / 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The update will feature major improvements to the game’s systems, new content to enjoy, and various quality-of-life enhancements.
Here are the details:
■ Overview
“Breakpoint” is a significant free update for *FBC: Firebreak*, Remedy Entertainment’s cooperative action game connected to the world of *Control*. Releasing on September 29th, this update doesn’t just add new things to do-it also changes how the game feels and plays.
Breakpoint significantly enhances FBC: Firebreak with the addition of the Crisis Board, Gun Mods, a new Outbreak Crisis mode, and a revamped economy. It also improves the initial player experience, progression system, and overall game balance, creating a more immersive and engaging ‘first responder’ experience with greater variety and depth.
■ Key Additions
New Playable Crisis: Outbreak
A fresh mission takes you to the Research Sector, where a mold outbreak has created dangerous new enemies, obstacles, and a hazardous condition to contend with.
Crisis Board
The new Crisis Board is replacing the old Job Board. It now offers selected ‘Crises’ to play, which makes *FBC: Firebreak* feel more lively, less repetitive, and more like the experience of being a first responder.
There are usually between four and six global Crises happening at any time. These can be major events, quick tasks, or corrupted missions, and each one has different rewards, goals, and durations. The list of available Crises updates every 30 minutes.
So, things in Zones 1 and 2 are a bit more focused now, which is cool – it makes getting through them smoother. Plus, sometimes you’ll get different objectives thrown in to keep things interesting. And get this – there’s a ‘Quick Reinforce’ feature that lets me jump into other players’ runs to give them a hand, which is awesome for teamwork!
Gun Mods (27 total)
Upgrade your weapons with a new system that lets you customize them as you play. These upgrades allow you to tailor your gear to perfectly match your team’s strategy and how you like to play.
Expanded Arsenal
Players now have more options for combat with the addition of three new powerful weapons – a semi-automatic rifle, a scattergun, and a rotary cannon – along with three new grenade types: freeze, healing, and black rock. These additions provide increased firepower and strategic possibilities.
New Threats
The game now features five new enemy types. These include two mold-based enemies – the Mold Walker and Mold Turret – specifically found during the Outbreak Crisis. There are also three new Hiss enemies – the Corrupted Ranger (with an airborne version), and the Demolition Expert – who appear throughout the game.
Economy Overhaul
Once you get a new weapon or piece of gear, it’s immediately ready to use – there’s no need to upgrade it anymore. You unlock items just by playing and gaining experience. We’ve simplified the game’s currencies, so they now focus on unlocking cosmetic items and improving Perks.
Improved Onboarding
Okay, so the game’s gotten a lot better for new players! They’ve added a proper tutorial level, some helpful videos to get you started, and completely reworked the beginning of the game. It’s way easier to learn now, which is awesome, and honestly, it’ll make it way simpler to get my friends into this game with me. No more explaining everything!
Gameplay & Quality-of-Life Updates
- Players now have access to full Crisis Kits from level 1, meaning their Altered Augments and Improvised Devices are already unlocked
- Devices and Augments are usable more frequently and tuned to feel stronger and more impactful in play
- Harmful Conditions are now visually more readable and no longer spread between players—no more reviving a burning teammate only to catch fire and repeat the cycle.
- Sliding and moving while downed for greater mobility and survivability
We’ve updated *FBC: Firebreak* to be easier for new players to pick up, while also adding more depth and options for experienced players.
■ Roadmap (subject to change)
“Breakpoint” is just the start of FBC: Firebreak‘s live journey. Upcoming content includes:
- Late November 2025 – Major Update “Rogue Protocol” (tentative name) featuring a brand-new game mode + cross-platform voice chat
- March 2026 – Next Major Update
I’m so excited! FBC: Firebreak is finally out! You can get it now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC – I just downloaded it from Steam, but it’s also available on the Epic Games Store.
