Remedy Entertainment has stopped providing updates and support for FBC: Firebreak, the cooperative shooter game connected to their Control universe. While interesting, the game didn’t quite live up to expectations.
The recent Open House update is the last one that will add new things to the game, though we’ll still release updates to fix bugs and make improvements. The game servers will stay running, and we’ve made changes so everyone can keep playing for many years, even when fewer people are online. We’ve specifically worked on the server technology to handle lower player numbers over time.
The game’s standard edition is now available for $19.99, reduced from $39.99, and the Deluxe Edition costs $29.99 instead of $49.99. A new Friend’s Pass lets you invite friends to play with you for free. They’ll need to download the free “Free Trial” version of the pass, which works on all platforms.
Endless Shift is getting five new arenas inspired by Control: the Executive Sector Cafeteria, the Maintenance Sector Aircon Room, Ranger HQ and Turntable, and the Research Sector’s Ritual Lobby. The game has also been rebalanced – harmful effects now last for a shorter time, and Perks are easier to upgrade, only needing to be equipped once to reach their maximum level.
You can now crawl faster when knocked down, and it’s quicker to revive teammates – it now takes three seconds instead of five. You can find a complete list of all the updates here.
Though Firebreak concludes the current story arc, the narrative will continue in Control Resonant. Set to release later in 2026, Control Resonant takes place seven years after the events of the first game and follows Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, as he investigates a mysterious disaster that has overtaken Manhattan.
