FBC: Firebreak’s New Rogue-Lite Horde Mode Endless Shift is Now Available

Okay, so Remedy’s Firebreak hasn’t exactly been a huge hit – they’ve even moved some people off the project to work on something new. But for those of us – and let’s be real, there aren’t that many of us, probably around 30 on Steam and a similar number on consoles – who are enjoying it, the big “Rogue Protocol” update is finally here! It’s cool to see them still supporting the game, even if it didn’t take off like they hoped.

A new game mode, Endless Shift, has been added! Players will be placed in a section of The Oldest House and face increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Defeating these enemies earns you Corruption, which you can spend on powerful Enhancements between waves. Look out for Power-Ups too – they offer advantages like team healing and the ability to wipe out enemies, although stronger Hiss will require more effort to defeat.

As you play, you’ll find stronger weapons and be able to improve your Enhancements. But be aware that enemies will get tougher, healing is limited to a single shower with few uses, and you only get ammo by defeating enemies. Players who fall in battle will respawn at the start of the next wave, but the game is over if the entire team is eliminated.

As you play more, you’ll earn new features and unlock cool cosmetic items. While this update probably won’t bring in a lot of new players, it’s great that Remedy is keeping its promises and delivering on its planned updates.

Although it’s unclear what the future holds for FBC: Firebreak, the team at Remedy is currently working on Control Resonant, a sequel to their popular 2019 game. This new installment will follow Dylan Faden, brother of Jesse Faden, and Remedy aims to make it their most ambitious project yet. You can find more information here.
