I’ve been enthusiastic about Career Mode since I started playing FIFA Football 2005; however, some players find that it has become less engaging over time.
In the previous year, FC 25 implemented numerous updates to revitalize the gameplay. Although this was a significant transformation, it didn’t address all issues; instead, it established a base for further improvements.
Incorporating fan feedback seems to serve as a solid base for EA Sports, leading to significant updates in FIFA 26 that many consider a leap towards the adaptability of Football Manager.
Set your own challenges

Undoubtedly, the highlight of these new changes is the Manager Live system.
Manager Live is an extension of the Live Start Points launched the previous year. It presents players with exclusive tasks spanning the entire year, creating an initially brief encounter that gradually evolves into a comprehensive save game.
Some examples previously mentioned involve capturing championships exclusively with homegrown talent, prioritizing athletes from specific countries, generating a specified income through player transfers, and undeniably, the journey known as “Road to Glory.
This setting encourages you to face novel difficulties, be it by imposing limitations or introducing a fresh league. The result is a significantly more invigorating and unique set of experiences.
For individuals accustomed to tackling pentagon challenges and managing nations within either series, this feature might not seem revolutionary. However, for those who appreciate a blend of both gameplay styles, the ability to customize challenges within Career Mode is a long-awaited addition that brings fresh excitement.
In a more collaborative approach, you can also engage friends by setting challenges against each other, fostering friendly competition within a typically single-player gaming experience.
Although we can’t delve into all the particular difficulties right now, rest assured that there’s a wide array of options available.
More realism
In recent years, Football Club (FC) has been focusing on making the in-game play more authentic, but for Career Mode, it’s essential to delve deeper into realism, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing with FC 26. The emphasis is shifting towards a more immersive, realistic experience beyond the field.
The introduction of the Manager Market feature allows for managers to transition between teams, either by being recruited, dismissed, or deciding to step down.
Like you, managers will have a ‘Job Security’ rating, showing how well they’re doing in their role.
If you’re on the hunt for a fresh opportunity, you might want to explore a particular section to find out which manager positions could potentially be vacant. Additionally, sports clubs may temporarily assign interim managers who, if they demonstrate sufficient competence, could be given the permanent role.
In the Manager Market, you can now see your potential chances of securing the position should you decide to apply for it.
Regarding Bromley, there’s no issue. As for Manchester City, it seems unlikely, or at least not imminently so – your current performance is significantly influencing your standing in the sporting world.
While I previously mentioned that realism should evolve beyond the field, it’s important to note that the realism on the field itself has seen its own enhancements as well.
In the updated version, the competitive gameplay and career mode gameplay have been separated. This means that any adjustments made to the game balance within Ultimate Team will not impact the way the game functions in Career Mode. As a result, you’ll consistently encounter a more authentic and realistic AI opponent in Career Mode.
Unique events
The latest development introduces a more authentic experience for managers, as they’ll now encounter some peculiar scenarios that actual managers face in their daily lives.
As a passionate football enthusiast, I’ve come to realize that teams might face penalties such as point deductions or even demotion due to financial complications. On the other hand, players may fall ill unexpectedly, necessitating tactical adaptability and swift adjustments in my chosen team lineup.
The team has added this feature to maintain long-term gameplay engaging – when you consistently win the league each season, this aspect adds different storyline moments to highlight your overall gaming experience.
Occasionally, such problems may be temporary, for instance, a spate of injuries, struggling new players adjusting, or a dip in spirit due to infrequent game time.
Over the long haul, players might face situations like board seizures and financial infusions, or else they could depart unexpectedly.
Each season you experience will bring its own mix of highs and lows, ensuring that every season is distinctive and keeps the game engaging, no matter how extended your participation may be.
Moneyball lite
In Football Management (FM), the strategy known as “Moneyball” is gaining traction. This strategy involves purchasing players whose statistical indicators, such as expected goals (xG), are indicative of potential real-life triumphs similar to those seen in teams like Brighton and Brentford.
While not as detailed as the system in FM, FC 26 makes the move towards this style of gameplay.
Users have the opportunity to choose a maximum of five distinct leagues for ‘reconnaissance’. This feature offers comprehensive data about the players in those chosen leagues, highlighting top goal-scorers and assist providers, teams with the most clean sheets, and players with the highest average ratings, among other insights.
I reiterate, while the depth of information your analysts and data center offer in FM may not be fully matched here, it certainly provides a good foundation and undoubtedly enhances the process of forming a team.
Besides showcasing our top-tier features, we’ve also included numerous user-friendly enhancements for your convenience.
The menus are now easier to navigate and offer greater personalization options. You can switch up player roles without compromising your overall strategic approach, and the AI’s transfer behavior feels more authentic. These features aren’t essential for the gameplay experience, but they definitely add a nicer touch.
All things considered, it’s pleasing to notice that FC 26 has been making steady progress in refining their Career Mode, even though it may not revolutionize gaming as we know it. The positive changes they implemented last year certainly set a good foundation for this ongoing enhancement.
Hopefully, that same motivation has rubbed off on Ultimate Team a bit, too.
