FC Pro Open pros reveal their top tips for getting better at FC 26

You likely feel pretty confident in your EA Sports FC skills – maybe you’re consistently reaching Divisions 2 or 3 in Rivals, doing well in FUT Champs, and occasionally succeeding in Gauntlets.

Honestly, watching the pros play EA FC esports makes me feel like I’m brand new to gaming. They’re just on a completely different level!

These players are truly elite – one even achieved a remarkable winning streak of over 500 consecutive matches in FUT Champs. But the good news is, you can improve your own game and reach that level too!

We spoke with the players at the FC Pro Open 26 Finals in London and asked them to share their best advice for getting better at FC 26.

I’m aware other players are practicing a lot, with some playing as much as eight hours daily. However, I limit my practice to a maximum of three hours – and often just one – because I don’t think anyone can maintain focus for that long.

I like to play less often, but really focus when I do, so I can get the most out of each session. If I’m not feeling motivated to play, I just don’t. There’s no point in playing if you’re forcing yourself, because you won’t improve or enjoy it.

It might sound strange, but I find it’s best to play only when you’re actually enjoying yourself. When you’re having fun, you’ll naturally play better, at least that’s how I see it.

As a fan, I’ve been thinking about how to improve, and it seems like setting small, achievable goals is key. Like, if I get a certain number of wins, I try to beat that number next time. Also, I really pay attention to what the top players are doing – you can often pick up little tricks or strategies that you can add to your own gameplay. It’s amazing what you can learn just by watching the best!

I improved by watching professional players and practicing consistently. During the COVID lockdowns, I had a lot of time to play at home, which really helped me develop my skills.

My advice is to review your gameplay. Modern consoles like PlayStation and Xbox let you record your games, which is a great way to identify your mistakes and see where you can improve.

It’s also important to be open-minded when reviewing your gameplay. You might be tempted to dismiss a bad outcome as just luck, and sometimes it is. But don’t automatically assume that – consider that you might have made a mistake, and be willing to admit when that’s the case.

My biggest advice for anyone wanting to improve is to study professional players. Watch their streams, YouTube videos, and tutorials. Don’t be afraid to ask them directly what you can do to get better – what you’re already doing well, and where you could improve.

Honestly, I’ve been thinking a lot about pro players and how they approach the game. It’s amazing to watch them, because every single thing they do feels deliberate, like there’s a reason behind it. I really think more focus should be put on showcasing that pro gameplay and their thought process – it’s where the real learning happens, you know?

I’m not sure I have any specific advice, but focus on entering open competitions like the FC Pro Open, and just play your best to see how far you can go.

To truly improve, you need to practice consistently. It’s essential to play frequently, and even more importantly, to challenge yourself by playing against opponents who are better than you. Simply practicing against weaker players won’t help you reach your full potential.

“And maybe watch pro gameplay so you see what the pros are doing.”

The best way to improve, in my opinion, is to watch experienced players. Check out tutorials on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, or watch live streams. It’s much easier than trying to figure things out on your own.

Look, the really good players just know the shortcuts, which saved me a ton of time. It still takes effort to learn, but honestly, that’s my biggest piece of advice – it’s exactly what I did, and it’s why I’m where I am now.
