Okay, so I just finished playing 1000xRESIST, and honestly, the story completely blew me away. It’s a sci-fi game where this alien disease nearly destroys everyone, but this one woman is immune, and they basically rebuild the world underground using clones of her. It’s a mix of visual novel style storytelling and exploring the world, and while it’s not super difficult to play, the story is so captivating and interesting that it totally makes up for it. Seriously, it’s one of the most intriguing experiences I’ve had in a game in a long time.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (PS4)

Vanillaware, known for its excellent action RPGs, took a big risk with 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, a unique blend of visual novel and strategy game. Thankfully, the risk paid off, and the result is potentially their best game to date. With compelling characters and a truly captivating story, 13 Sentinels is a storytelling triumph – a real pleasure for both the eyes and the mind.

A Way Out (PS4)

As a gamer, I have to say A Way Out is seriously cool! What makes it special is that it requires two players – you absolutely have to play it with a friend. And honestly, that’s what makes it so good! You and your buddy play as two convicts breaking out of prison and getting revenge, and the whole game is built around that co-op experience. It’s got a really interesting story and tons of moments designed for playing with someone, making it a fantastic game to enjoy with a pal.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (PS4)

Ace Combat is a surprisingly great series that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. The newest installment, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, is one of the best yet, delivering a compelling story about aerial warfare. While the main campaign is excellent, the game also features a solid online multiplayer mode and incredible optional missions for PlayStation VR – if you can handle the intensity!

As a multiplayer fan, I’ve got to say, ARC Raiders is incredible! Every time I play with my squad, it feels totally fresh, and we always end up with crazy stories to share. It might be a bit challenging if you prefer to go it alone, and the whole process of completing missions and getting back out might not appeal to everyone. But honestly, for a game in this genre, it’s surprisingly easy to pick up and play, and it doesn’t waste your time. From the very first match, it’s just pure fun. I genuinely think ARC Raiders is one of the best multiplayer games we’ve seen this generation.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (PS5)

FromSoftware, the creators of hits like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, have revisited the Armored Core series, a franchise they developed before achieving widespread fame. This new installment, the sixth main game in the series, feels familiar to past titles – which might be a surprise for players new to Armored Core – but it’s still a very enjoyable experience. Players will constantly be engaging in fast-paced combat and customizing their mech with different parts to optimize performance on the battlefields of Rubicon. While consistently fun, it doesn’t quite reach the same iconic status as FromSoftware’s more recent games.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (PS4)

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey feels more like a sprawling open-world role-playing game than a typical Assassin’s Creed game. As the second in a series of three similar games, it moves away from some of the features that made earlier titles unique, but it compensates with complex and captivating RPG elements. You’ll spend a lot of time leveling up, collecting loot, developing skills, and dealing with random encounters like bounty hunters, all while exploring a massive world. The story is also well done, following Alexios or Kassandra as they uncover the secrets of their family history.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows (PS5)

Assassin’s Creed Shadows brings the action to Japan at last! Featuring two playable characters and a remarkably detailed open world, the game delivers a gripping story of revenge. With memorable characters and a surprisingly complex narrative, Shadows is a standout addition to the franchise.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (PS5)

As a huge Assassin’s Creed fan, I’d say Valhalla feels like the best of both Origins and Odyssey. It really goes back to focusing on a strong story, like in Origins, but keeps the deeper RPG elements – leveling up, finding cool gear, and building out skills – that Odyssey introduced. You play as Eivor, a Viking warrior with a mysterious past, who sets sail from Norway to build a new life in England during the 9th century. The world is absolutely massive and packed with things to discover, so be warned – you can easily lose hours exploring! But honestly, the main story is fantastic, and I think it has some of the most memorable characters and moments of any game in the series.

Baldur’s Gate 3 (PS5)

Baldur’s Gate 3 is an exceptional role-playing game, excelling in nearly every way. When it’s at its best, it’s one of the most immersive RPGs you can experience. While its deliberate pace might not appeal to all players, it raises the standard for how much freedom a game offers. Your journey to Baldur’s Gate feels uniquely your own, filled with compelling characters and a fantastic story. It’s a standout title that truly defines the genre.

Ball X Pit (PS5)

Okay, so Borderlands 3 is here and it’s seriously good, especially on the PS5. I’ve been playing a lot, and honestly, it feels better than ever. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it refines everything that made the previous games fun. Shooting feels amazing, there are so many different guns and missions, and the humor is still that weird, quirky Borderlands style you either love or hate. But where it really shines is on the PS5 – the graphics are gorgeous and it can run at a super smooth 120fps if you have a TV that supports it. Honestly, if you’re looking for a great co-op shooter to play with friends, either on the couch or online, you can’t go wrong with this one. It’s a total blast!

Chants of Sennaar (PS4)

As a puzzle game fan, I have to say Chants of Sennaar is seriously impressive! It’s really different – you basically learn and translate made-up languages to get through the game, figuring out what all the symbols and characters mean as you explore. Plus, it looks fantastic and the story is super captivating. If you’re looking for something unique, you absolutely need to check this one out!

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (PS5)

Okay, as a huge fan of the first game, I can tell you Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is a real step up. It’s a much bigger RPG, and the story is just incredible – really focused on the characters and set in this beautifully bleak sci-fi world. What I love is the dice system; it makes you think about every move you make and whether the risk is worth it. You get to explore lots of different places, meet tons of interesting people, and make choices that actually matter. While there’s a lot of reading, the side quests add so much depth to what’s already a pretty focused story. If you enjoy games with a lot of narrative, you’ll get completely lost in this one.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (PS5)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a classic turn-based RPG, drawing inspiration from both modern and older games in the genre. It tells a mysterious story about a team traveling through a magical world to stop the dangerous Paintress and her ticking clock. The game boasts strong characters, a compelling story, and beautiful music, but it’s the combat that really shines. Each character has unique abilities that work well with the team, and the battles stay exciting thanks to quick-time events and the ability to dodge attacks. While not perfect, Clair Obscur is a must-play for RPG fans.

Cocoon (PS5)

Okay, so I just finished playing Cocoon, and wow. It’s a puzzle game, but it’s unlike anything I’ve ever played. You’re basically this little space bug, and you collect these glowing orbs. The cool part is, you can place those orbs down and then go inside them – and each orb is a whole new world! Seriously, each one has its own puzzles, and you have to jump between these worlds, even nest them inside each other, to progress. It’s a really mind-bending experience, but the controls are super simple, and there’s no dialogue at all. It’s just incredibly intuitive and I know I won’t forget this game anytime soon.
