Feb 2026 USA Sales: PS5 Outsells Nintendo’s New Switch 2 for a Second Consecutive Month

Okay, so I’ve been keeping up with the console wars, and it looks like my PS5 is still winning! The new Switch 2 just came out, but the PS5 has outsold it for two months in a row now. It’s good to see my setup still on top!

PlayStation sales decreased compared to last year, but it still outperformed Nintendo in both the number of consoles sold and overall revenue. However, the release of the highly anticipated Pokémon Pokopia in March could shift the balance.

Wow, what a month for the PS5! I’m really not surprised, but Resident Evil Requiem is absolutely crushing it and is officially the best-selling game of the year so far. It’s amazing to see – it actually sold 60% more in its first week than Resident Evil Village did! That’s a huge jump and shows how much people were looking forward to it.

The surprise release of God of War: Sons of Sparta quickly climbed the charts, landing at number 14 – a remarkable feat for a game available only as a digital download. It performed impressively, finishing only a few spots behind Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, which was ninth.

I was glad to see some of my favorites still hanging in there! Ghost of Yotei and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 were both still in the top 20, landing at 15th and 18th place. But honestly, Helldivers 2 is just killing it – it stayed strong at number 5, which is awesome!

PlayStation is also leading in accessories sales. In February 2026, the Midnight Black PS Portal was the top-selling accessory based on revenue, and the Midnight Black DualSense controller sold the most units.

Total industry spending reached $4.6 billion last month, a slight increase compared to the same time last year. This growth was largely thanks to the new Switch 2, which balanced out weaker sales in other hardware categories.
