Developer OMYOG together with publisher tinyBuild have unveiled a fresh trailer for their upcoming shooter game titled “Ferocious.” This game, featuring players battling dinosaurs using traditional weaponry, was initially teased as far back as June 2023. The recently released trailer sheds light on the storyline that
In the heart of the tale of Ferocious, the main character encounters a perilous predicament: they’re stranded on an isolated island, seemingly untouched by progression through time. This desolate land is home to creatures presumed extinct, not just dinosaurs, but also colossal crabs, capable of ending a human life with a single snap of their lethal claws.
During their stay on the island, a mysterious woman assists the player, though her identity remains hidden. She hints that the creatures the player encounters aren’t the most dangerous aspect of the island. Instead, it’s Manifesto – a questionable corporation with advanced weaponry, evidently spread across multiple bases on the island. The exact intentions of Manifesto are unclear, but the protagonist has no desire to engage them in battle. His sole focus is locating his brother and making an escape.
The trailer for Ferocious not only introduces the main plot but also offers glimpses into gameplay elements. For instance, it suggests that players could form friendships with certain smaller dinosaurs they meet during gameplay. Additionally, players will have a variety of weapons at their disposal to combat both Manifesto’s forces and the aggressive wildlife they may encounter.
In the heat of battle, combatants may tactically employ the environment as well. For instance, they could entice a colossal triceratops towards a Manifesto outpost, causing chaos while they stealthily maneuver past, with enemy soldiers unaware of their surrounding activity.
Not only does the trailer unveil all this information, but it also confirms that players have an opportunity to test the game themselves due to a beta on Steam. This demo has been accessible since the last Steam Next Fest, and it has garnered significant attention, with the studio mentioning some players even spent over ten hours playing it.
Initially, when Ferocious was first unveiled, the developers highlighted that their main inspirations for the game were iconic monster films such as King Kong and Jurassic Park. From what we can gather from the trailer, it appears that the game also draws considerable inspiration from earlier versions of the Far Cry series by offering players a substantial degree of autonomy when tackling challenges.
In the past, the studio has highlighted that the game Ferocious emphasizes realism, particularly in its gameplay elements such as survival mechanics. This means players should be cautious about their injuries while navigating obstacles using scarce resources and stealth tactics.
