The highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched on the Switch 2 earlier this year, demonstrating the console’s ability to run large, popular RPGs. Following its release, fans predicted that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth would also come to the Switch 2, and now a release date has been announced – it’s coming sooner than many expected!
Nintendo announced during a recent presentation that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be available on the Switch 2 starting June 3rd. If you’re playing the first game, Remake, you’ll want to finish it soon! Pre-orders for FF7 Rebirth on the Switch 2 will open later today. Based on how well Remake ran, Rebirth should also perform well on Nintendo’s hybrid console.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Hitting Switch 2 Could Be Good News for Part 3 Release Date
As a huge fan, I was already thrilled with Final Fantasy 7 Remake finally coming to the Switch 2 last month, but seeing Rebirth announced so soon after is amazing! This one’s supposed to be way more open-world, letting you explore beyond Midgar, which is going to really push the Switch 2’s capabilities – and give us another look at Cloud’s iconic hair, of course. Honestly, this news makes me hopeful that we won’t have to wait too long for the third and final game in the remake trilogy!
Fans started wondering if the third part of the game would be released soon earlier this year. The rumors that Rebirth would come to the Switch 2 this year seemed to support that idea. Now that we know Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to Switch 2 in summer 2026, it feels even more likely that the third part isn’t far behind. Square Enix has suggested for a while that they already have a timeframe in mind for its release. Releasing the existing remake games on the Switch 2 is a great way to build anticipation for that announcement.

Square Enix recently updated the original Final Fantasy 7 for Steam, making it much easier to play on PC. This move, along with other releases, suggests they’re focused on keeping the Final Fantasy 7 franchise popular. While we still don’t know when the final installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will come out, it will probably be a PlayStation exclusive, just like the earlier games. However, it might not take as long to arrive on the new Switch 2 – we waited five years for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and the next release could come sooner.
Okay, so I just heard that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is officially coming to the Switch 2 on June 3rd, 2026! I’m super hyped! Nintendo’s planning to reveal the full details during their next Direct showcase, and pre-orders should go live on February 5th. Get ready to jump back in!
