Square Enix isn’t planning any downloadable content for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, although they considered adding some during the game’s creation.
Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, told Wccftech that while the team initially considered downloadable content for the game, they’ve decided to concentrate all their resources on developing the final game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy – the third installment – which is what fans are most eager to see.
Our fans have been eager for the third game, so we’re focusing on delivering that as quickly as possible. This means we’ve temporarily shifted our attention away from the Rebirth DLC to prioritize completing the new game.
Looking to the future, Hamaguchi suggests they’re considering adding to the third game, either through an expansion or a completely new game. He believes the conclusion of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy will attract more fans to the series overall, and they are actively exploring options for what comes next, like additional downloadable content or a brand-new title.
Square Enix isn’t planning any further updates or downloadable content for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, focusing instead on releasing the next game in the series. As stated by Hamaguchi last November, fans are most eager to play the third installment as soon as possible rather than waiting for additional content for Rebirth.
