Square Enix has shared a new trailer for the upcoming release of *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade* on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, scheduled for January 22, 2026. This trailer doesn’t showcase gameplay or graphics; instead, it offers an introduction to the world of *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* and the various groups and organizations within it. You can watch the trailer below.
As the trailer shows, *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade* is set entirely in the troubled city of Midgar. Jesse, a member of the group Avalanche, explains that Midgar’s power comes from Mako reactors and details the city’s structure. The main enemy in the game is the Shinra Electric Power Company, which operates these reactors. Shinra, the company’s president and CEO, leads the organization, with his son Rufus serving as vice president.
The Shinra company relies on a secretive team called the Turks for covert operations – they handle the company’s dirty work while keeping negative attention to a minimum. Opposing Shinra is Avalanche, a group labeled as eco-terrorists in the city of Midgar. The game begins with the main character, Cloud, joining Avalanche on a mission to destroy one of Shinra’s Mako reactors.
Sephiroth is the main villain in *Final Fantasy 7*. He was once a celebrated hero and elite SOLDIER, but everyone believed he died five years before the game’s story begins.
The release of *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade* marks Square Enix’s initial move in expanding the trilogy to more gaming systems. The company recently announced plans to bring the entire trilogy to a wider range of platforms, suggesting that *Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth* will likely become available on the upcoming Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.
The company’s statement suggests the third *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* game will be released on multiple platforms simultaneously, unlike the first two games, *Remake* and *Rebirth*, which were initially PlayStation exclusives before being released on other systems a year or two later.
If you’re planning to play *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade* on your Nintendo Switch 2, be aware that it requires nearly 90 GB of free space. Even if you buy a physical copy, you’ll still need to download most of the game files online, as it will be sold on a Game-Key Card rather than a traditional game cartridge.
