Square Enix has announced that the new features and options planned for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will also be added to the PlayStation 5 version on the same day.
The publisher previously told Push Square that extra features would be added to the PS5 version of the game, but didn’t say when. Now we know PS5 players will get these bonus features at the same time as those on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S – January 22nd, 2026.
These additional options have been pitched as “streamlined progression features”, and they are:
- Always have maximum HP and MP
- Always deal 9,999 damage to enemies
- Always have max number of items (with some exceptions)
I’ve been seeing more and more games do this, and I love it! It’s like they’re taking those classic RPGs I grew up with – think the recent Dragon Quest remakes – and giving them a modern touch. They’re adding options in the pause menu to make the older gameplay feel smoother and even letting you speed up battles. Now, starting January 22nd, I’ll be able to do all that in Final Fantasy VII Remake on my PS5, which is awesome!
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will also be released on PC and Xbox, and will likely receive updates similar to the PlayStation version, with some new gameplay features added. The third and final game in the remake series is expected within the next few years, but it’s currently unknown if it will remain exclusive to PlayStation consoles.
