Fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, and the game’s director seems very pleased with how it’s coming along.
During an interview at Brazil Game Show 2025, Naoki Hamaguchi from Square Enix discussed the remake project and shared his expectations for how players will react to the upcoming third game, which is currently unnamed.
He explained that while they could have made Final Fantasy 7 Remake into a single game by cutting content, they chose to create a three-part series. He believes fans wouldn’t have accepted a shortened version, and this approach allowed them to fully realize the game’s potential with modern technology.
Now that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have been released to widespread acclaim, Hamaguchi believes players will love the upcoming third and final game in the series.
I’ve already planned out how Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 will end. I believe it will satisfy both longtime fans of the original game and those who discovered Final Fantasy 7 through the Remake series. I’m aiming for an ending that everyone will enjoy.
The game’s story has a significant portion left to tell, which suggests the third installment could be quite substantial.
Square Enix has reported that the game’s development is going well. Additionally, Hamaguchi has stated that Rebirth is performing strongly, addressing some fan worries about its sales.
It’s hard to say when Part 3 will be released. The gap between the first two installments, Remake and Rebirth, was almost four years, so it might still take a few years. However, now that the team has finished those games, they might be able to develop Part 3 a bit more quickly.
Hamaguchi appears happy with the progress and believes audiences will enjoy the final product.
