While fans eagerly await the final installment of the *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* trilogy, director Naoki Hamaguchi has promised a fresh gameplay experience when it’s released. Speaking at the Brasil Game Show, Hamaguchi explained that each game in the series aims to deliver both a new story and new ways to play.
The games in this trilogy already feel quite different in how you play them. The first game had a straightforward, chapter-based structure where you couldn’t often revisit areas. However, *Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth* introduced a vast open world to explore. The battle system was also updated, with *Rebirth* offering more complex combos, team attacks, and a variety of new mini-games.
According to Hamaguchi, the first game focused on a strong story, while the second added a large, open world allowing players more freedom. Now, the third installment is in development and aims to deliver a fresh gaming experience, building on the strengths of its predecessors. (Source: Genki_JPN)
It’s hard to say exactly what the next game in the series will be like until it’s officially announced. However, it’s possible we’ll see even more freedom for players. While *Rebirth* had a large open world, some areas were locked until you progressed through the story. The third game could potentially let players explore everything from the very beginning.
Hamaguchi also explained at the event why they decided to split the remake of *Final Fantasy 7* into three separate projects. He said the team wanted to stay true to the original 1997 game and include everything fans loved, rather than cut any content. They knew the passionate *Final Fantasy 7* fanbase wouldn’t want to see anything left out.
During a presentation, Hamaguchi explained that the team chose to divide the remake of *Final Fantasy 7* into three games because of the game’s dedicated fanbase. They felt shortening the story would disappoint fans of the original, and that the full story required the scope offered by multiple games to take advantage of new technology.
He discussed the studio’s plans to conclude the story begun with *Final Fantasy 7 Remake*, continued in the *Intermission* DLC, and further developed in *Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth*. Though he didn’t share specific details, he assured fans that the ending will satisfy both longtime players of the original game and those who discovered the story through the Remake trilogy.
I already know how *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3* will end,” he stated. “I believe the conclusion will satisfy both longtime fans of the original *Final Fantasy 7* and those who discovered it through the *Remake* series. I’m confident everyone will enjoy the new game.”
Naoki Hamaguchi, the creative behind the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, wants each game to feel fresh and unique. He explains that just as the story evolves with each installment, he’s aiming for a new gameplay experience with every release. He believes players should feel something different each time they play a game in the series.
