Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3’s Official Title is Locked, Says Director

Square Enix hasn’t announced a release date for the last chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, but they’re getting ready to. Recently, the game’s directors, Naoki Hamaguchi and Tetsuya Nomura, said they had whittled down their options to just one.

During an interview at Paris Games Week, I mentioned we were choosing between two potential titles,” explained Hamaguchi to GameSpot. “Ultimately, the final decision rested with Mr. Nomura. He made his choice after the event, and we’ve officially settled on a title since then.”

While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet – though Nomura says they decided on it previously – good progress is being made. Last month, Hamaguchi stated the main gameplay was almost finished and that the game was finally aligning with his original vision. We’re still waiting, of course, but with many gaming events coming up this year, there’s a good chance we’ll see more soon.

You can now play Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. Both versions run smoothly, and you can even try a free demo to see for yourself. While Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth doesn’t have a release date yet for either console, the developers are aiming to launch it sometime this year.

Hamaguchi also mentioned that work on the next Nintendo Switch’s capabilities has started, which supports the idea it might launch in 2026. He also confirmed development is underway for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. Could this mean we’ll get a reveal of either of these projects this year? It’s possible, so keep an eye out for future updates.
