It appears that Square Enix has set a release date (or at least a release window) for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. Following the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in early 2024, fans have been eagerly awaiting news about Part 3. At this point, there isn’t much information available about Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, as even its official title remains unknown. Despite this lack of details, Square Enix seems to be well-informed about Part 3, although they have yet to disclose any specifics with the public.
During a recent live broadcast, Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, addressed fan queries regarding Part 3 and its release. Although he did not reveal many details about the project, Nomura did affirm that Square Enix has established a “release schedule” for the game, which comes as quite a surprise. He further mentioned that with this timeline set, Square is now proceeding with development with this date or window in mind, expressing confidence that it will meet this deadline.
Nomura stated that the upcoming FFVII game is progressing flawlessly, and they’ve already set a release date. Currently, they are adhering to this timeline, so don’t worry and remain patient.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3’s Likely Release Window

It’s encouraging to learn that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is progressing smoothly within the team, but it’s essential to remember that such projects often encounter obstacles. These hurdles are quite typical, particularly for massive AAA games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Given the current plans, it appears that Square Enix might stick to their schedule, implying a potential release for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 in either 2027 or 2028. Previously, the team at Square mentioned they aimed to maintain a similar time gap between Part 3 and Rebirth as there was between Rebirth and Remake, which was approximately four years. This indicates that Final Fantasy VII enthusiasts should expect a wait of around one to two more years before Part 3 is officially revealed.
When the third installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake eventually launches, it’s clear that the game will initially be available only on PlayStation platforms, including PS5 and possibly even PS6, given the timeframe. Over an extended period, however, it is expected to expand its availability to include Xbox consoles, the Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms as well.
