Fire Force: All Arcs Ranked From Worst to Best

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers for the Fire Force manga. After a four-year wait following the second season, Fire Force returned in Spring 2025 for a third season, planned to conclude the story in two parts. The second part began airing in Winter 2026 and is leading up to the series finale. Based on the popular manga by Atsushi Ookubo, Fire Force is known for its creative world, exciting action, and compelling story—especially its satisfying conclusion, which many Shonen fans appreciate. The story follows Shinra Kusakabe and Special Fire Force Company 8 as they investigate the cause of spontaneous human combustion, a terrifying phenomenon affecting people.

The manga finished in 2022 after running for 304 chapters, divided into 25 shorter story arcs. While each arc is enjoyable, some are definitely stronger than others.

25) Introduction Arc

Fire Force quickly establishes its world and story by introducing its main character and the members of Special Fire Force Company 8. It also clearly lays out the rules of the power system and hints at the central mysteries – like why people are suddenly bursting into flames and what happened in Shinra’s past – that will unfold as the story progresses.

24) Stigma Arc

Company 8 is sent to Asakusa to investigate Konro Sagamiya, a Lieutenant from Company 7, for possible ties to the White Clad. At the same time, Shinra and Arthur are training with Benimaru, unaware that Tamaki intends to join them and improve her abilities.

23) Preacher Pursuit Arc

Becoming a Fire Soldier opened my eyes to what Shinra’s company was really about – uncovering the mystery behind spontaneous human combustion, and we were expected to do whatever it took to help. This arc is amazing because it dives into how Special Fire Force Company 8 came to be, and it’s fascinating to see Akitaru Ōbi’s journey, especially considering he doesn’t even have pyrokinetic abilities himself! It really shows you what motivated him to join the fight.

22) VS. Special Fire Force Company 4 Arc

Shinra is gathering more questions as he prepares to speak with the Battalion Commander about the mysterious Adolla Link. But an unforeseen event occurs, completely altering his understanding of his own unique abilities.

21) Vulcan’s Workshop Arc

Company 8 is a young organization and doesn’t have enough staff, so they’re really hoping to find a skilled engineer to join their team. Ōbi has always wanted to hire Vulcan, but Vulcan refuses to work with anyone connected to Haijima Industries. When Shinra, Arthur, and Iris go to find Vulcan, they discover the story behind his strong feelings.

20) VS. Special Fire Force Company 5 Arc

The story quickly dives into the puzzle of people suddenly bursting into flames. A fire captain rapidly rose in rank after a major breakthrough, which sparked a fierce rivalry and conflict between his company and another. As the truth about these fires emerges, it becomes clear they aren’t natural at all.

19) Haijima Industries Arc

A survivor of Rekka Hoshimiya’s attacks was found to have a rare ability called an Adolla Burst and was taken to Haijima Industries. There, he was subjected to harsh training to learn to control it. However, Shinra and his team from Company 8 discovered what was happening. When Company 8 confronted Haijima Industries, the situation took a surprising twist with the arrival of the White Clad, leading to an unexpected partnership.

18) Fifth Pillar Arc

Company 8 and the White Clad were prepared for the rise of the Fifth Pillar, a powerful individual with the abilities of Adolla Burst and Adolla Link. Unfortunately, Shinra’s attempt to help a young girl goes wrong when she succumbs to her inner darkness. To make matters worse, the Fire Soldiers suffer a significant problem with an outbreak of Infernals.

17) Iris Arc

Though brief at only four chapters, this story arc deeply challenges the world’s core beliefs, seen through Iris’s eyes. Having devoted nearly her whole life to worshipping the Holy Sol, her faith is shaken when she discovers the Temple was built on a deliberate deception.

16) Arthur’s Adventure Arc

Arthur’s imaginative and often illogical thoughts allow him to conjure up bizarre situations, but only if he maintains confidence in his abilities. Understanding how Arthur’s powers function, Vulcan happily plays along with these fantasies, arranging an adventure filled with comical moments for his friend.

15) Joint Investigation Arc

The story follows Maki as she’s unexpectedly sent back to work at her father’s office, but she still longs for her time with the challenging and dangerous Company 8. At the same time, Companies 2 and 8 team up for an investigation in the Netherworld, only to find themselves in a difficult situation that only Maki can resolve.

14) Return to St. Raffles Arc

The third season finally reveals more about the tragic events that happened at Iris and Hibana’s convent. Both Companies 1 and 5 were looking into what happened in the past, and their investigation led them to the ruins of St. Raffles Convent, where they confronted the person responsible.

13) Final Pillar Arc

Things are really heating up! It feels like the end is near – the last battle pillar has appeared, signaling another huge crisis. This story arc is basically setting the stage for the final showdown, and it’s awesome to see Shinra finally stepping up and becoming the hero we all knew he could be. It’s incredible they managed to pack all of that into just one episode, but they really focused on the most impactful scenes – some of the best the series has ever offered!

12) Kusakabe History Arc

Shinra was haunted by being falsely accused of his family’s death, while Sho lost his childhood after being kidnapped by the White Clad. After unexpectedly reuniting with his brother, Sho started to understand the world around him. Together, Sho and Arrow return to the surface, determined to uncover the truth about their family’s past.

11) VS. Special Fire Force Company 1 Arc

Even though it’s just the third story arc, this part of the series features some of its most thrilling moments, particularly the surprising secrets hidden within Company 1 – the strongest team in the entire brigade. While posing as new recruits, Shinra and Arthur secretly investigate the company and quickly find themselves in a dangerous predicament.

10) Asakusa Arc

Benimaru Shinmon is widely considered the most powerful Fire Soldier, and the events in the Asakusa Arc reveal how he earned that reputation. While Company 8 seeks to team up with Benimaru, their plans are disrupted when a group called the White Clads creates trouble in Asakusa.

9) Ōbi’s Rescue Arc

The White Clads decide to have Obi arrested with the help of Company 8. When Shinra and his team learn their Captain is going to be executed, they immediately rush to save him. However, standing in their way is a powerful Fire Soldier whom Shinra greatly admires.

8) Asakusa Showdown Arc

Benimaru takes center stage when he battles a copy of Hibachi Shinmon, the man who raised him, who is endangering Tokyo. This storyline showcases his most impressive fight yet and reveals details about his history.

7) VS. Holy Sol Temple Arc

Joker and Benimaru team up to investigate the Holy Sol Temple, uncovering disturbing secrets hidden inside. During their mission, Joker’s difficult past is revealed, along with the reason he and Leonard Burns both wear eyepatches, and the connection they share.

6) Netherworld Arc

The Netherworld is a hidden underground train system beneath Japan, concealing dark secrets of the White Clad and the Holy Sol Temple. Officially off-limits to the public, it doesn’t deter Company 8 from launching an investigation. This storyline also reveals the tragic clash between the Kusakabe brothers and uncovers the terrifying extent of Sho’s abilities.

5) Epilogue Arc

Many fans consider Fire Force to have one of the strongest endings in the Shonen genre. That’s why, even with a short two-chapter conclusion, it appears at number five on this list. The story wraps up by showing what happens after the final fight, in a world free from spontaneous human combustion. Shinra achieves his goal of becoming a hero, and lasting peace is finally established, as there’s no longer any threat to safety.

4) Chinese Peninsula Arc

Over two centuries after a global disaster known as the Great Cataclysm, Tokyo remains the world’s only technologically advanced city. To uncover the truth about Amaterasu, Fire Force teams ventured to the Chinese Peninsula, where they made significant discoveries. This expedition begins to unravel a web of mysteries and offers the first clues to answering long-held questions.

3) Battle of Amaterasu Arc

The White Clad are one step closer to unlocking Amaterasu, having stolen the necessary key from Vulcan. Company 8 and their allies immediately confront the villains to safeguard the Internal Generator. The story will also feature a second battle between Arthur and Dragon.

2) Stone Pillars Arc

The story takes a dramatic turn as the White Clad prepare for a devastating event called the Second Cataclysm. At the same time, Obi is striving to bring everyone together to oppose them. Fire Force and Haijima Industries team up to protect the city from a massive Infernal rising from the ocean. Throughout all this, Shinra discovers the existence of a world unlike anything he’s ever known.

1) Great Cataclysm Arc

Fire Force is a series that consistently improves, with its final arc being the strongest part of the story. It’s particularly satisfying because all the previous mysteries and reveals come together to explain the world and its secrets. While the fight against the doppelgängers continues, Shinra ultimately faces a completely different, more powerful enemy.
