First Look At Milly Alcock’s Supergirl In Costume Leaks (& Is Quickly Deleted)

The filming for “Supergirl” started in January, as DC Studios openly announced. Despite this, we haven’t had an official glimpse of Supergirl’s costume. However, thanks to Lindsay McAllister, co-head of hair department, we now have our first sneak peek at Milly Alcock wearing the classic Supergirl outfit inspired by the comics. Initially posted on Instagram, the photo has since been removed, but not before being widely shared online. Previously, it was confirmed that production for “Supergirl” ended in June, which is a year earlier than its planned cinematic release.

I’m thrilled to be part of the support team for “Supergirl,” a movie masterfully directed by Craig Gillespie, renowned for his exceptional work on films like “I, Tonya,” “Lars and the Real Girl,” and “Fright Night.” The script is brilliantly crafted by Ana Nogueira, an actress who’s been making her mark in the writing world of late. This film is inspired by the comic book series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” penned by Tom King with stunning artwork by Bilquis Evely. The title of our movie was drawn from this series until recently. James Gunn, co-head at DC Studios, shared a photo of Alcock on set, apparently engrossed in the collected “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” in her trailer. Beyond that, DC Studios and Alcock have been tight-lipped about the specifics of what we can anticipate from this superhero movie.

The image you see provides a brief glimpse of Alcock portraying Kara. Yet, it offers a detailed view of the distinctive S-shield on her chest, reminiscent of the one donned by David Corenswet as Kara’s cousin Kal-el (Superman) in the recently released film, which premiered in cinemas this weekend.

Supergirl Is the DC Universe’s Follow-up to Superman

The upcoming movie titled Supergirl will be the second film in the freshly revamped DC Universe, helmed by Gunn and Safran. It continues the narrative initiated by the recently released Superman, which has amassed a remarkable $217 million globally, with $122 million from domestic viewers and $95 million from international audiences. Alongside Alcock in the cast are Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, and Alice Hewkin as Sklarian Raider.

In the upcoming movie, it’s Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe, who will first appear in the DC Universe as Lobo. Momoa confirmed that he completed filming for the superhero film back in April, although earlier photos supposedly taken on set hinted at Lobo’s presence but were later found to be false. However, Momoa has been vocal about his enthusiasm for the project and has given fans a sneak peek of what they can anticipate from Lobo’s portrayal in Supergirl. According to Momoa, viewers can look forward to a screen adaptation that closely follows Lobo’s comic book characteristics when Supergirl hits theaters next year.

Right now, viewers can catch Superman on the big screen. However, they’ll need to exercise a bit more patience for Supergirl, which is set to premiere in theaters on June 26, 2026. If you’re not familiar with the storyline from “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” you can get up to speed by picking up the comic book series. The trade paperback is currently available at all book retailers.
