First Look at Savage Hulk’s Design in Spider-Man: Brand New Day & 3 Marvel Villains

Spider-Man fans are really excited for the first trailer of the new movie, Brand New Day, and it’s easy to understand why. The film will include popular characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Punisher (Jon Bernthal), and there’s a lot of buzz about which Spider-Man villains will be featured. Fans are hoping the trailer will confirm or deny the many rumors circulating. Until then, they’re searching everywhere online for any clues, and some early looks at important characters from Brand New Day have already surfaced.

A Reddit user recently posted some promotional artwork for the upcoming Brand New Day storyline. One image shows Spider-Man and Hulk (wearing his classic shorts!) in the front, with shadowy figures of villains – probably Boomerang, Scorpion, and Tarantula – visible in the background. Other images give us a good look at Boomerang and Tarantula’s costumes. Plus, a user named SM Vision shared a photo of Marvin Jones III as Tombstone lifting Spider-Man during a fight. You can see all the images below!

What The First-Look Images Tell Us About Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Marvel has been successful at keeping story details for the new Spider-Man movie secret, but rumors suggest we’ll see a different version of the Hulk than we’ve seen recently. Instead of the more thoughtful ‘Smart Hulk’ from Avengers: Endgame, the film appears to be bringing back the classic ‘Savage Hulk’ – the big, green, and incredibly strong version from the earlier Avengers movies. Recent promotional artwork seems to confirm this change, showing Hulk looking more like a dangerous enemy than a teammate. The artwork depicts Spider-Man reacting to Hulk and other villains, hinting that a fight between the two heroes is likely to happen.

As a longtime comic book fan, I’m really pleased with how Boomerang and Tarantula are looking in the latest reveals. Their costumes are remarkably faithful to the comics! The biggest difference I’ve noticed with Tarantula is the missing spider emblem, but the colors and overall design are spot-on. Honestly, it makes sense Marvel would go this route. We saw with Galactus in The Fantastic Four: First Steps that they’re really committed to bringing those iconic comic book looks to life, and paying respect to the original artists. It’s great to see that adaptations have reached a point where filmmakers aren’t afraid to embrace the source material, even if it means a character might have seemed a little ‘out there’ years ago. They’re still making adjustments for the big screen, of course, but the comics are clearly the foundation now.

The new film, Brand New Day, has a lot of villains, which naturally raises concerns about it becoming cluttered like Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Those movies suffered from having too many characters, and it’s fair to wonder if this new film will make the same mistake. While it’s still uncertain how Brand New Day will handle its villains, it’s likely many will appear briefly, perhaps in a montage showing Spider-Man’s activities since No Way Home – similar to the newsreel in First Steps. Some fans might not appreciate seeing villains used in such a limited way, but it would be a quick way to update the audience on Peter Parker’s current situation as a superhero.

Fans are hoping Tombstone will be a major villain in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Like characters such as Boomerang and Tarantula, his look is inspired by the comics, and it would be fantastic to see him as a central threat. The movie seems to be focusing on smaller-scale, street-level crime in New York, making Tombstone a perfect fit for the story. While he isn’t as well-known as villains like Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus, he’s strong enough to carry a film as the main antagonist. Hopefully, the trailer for Brand New Day will be released soon, giving us a clearer picture of what the movie will be about.
