As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the initial sneak peek for the new take on the “Silent Night, Deadly Night” remake has been revealed! This movie is a fresh spin on the 1984 original, which turned Santa Claus into a chilling figure and stirred up quite a storm upon its debut, even causing some to demand it be removed from cinemas. Despite all the controversy surrounding the initial film, “Silent Night, Deadly Night” gave birth not only to sequels but also a remake known as “Silent Night.” While “Silent Night” was somewhat inspired by the original, the upcoming reboot promises to breathe new life into the classic horror tale.
The director of the remake for the movie “Silent Night, Deadly Night” is Mike P. Nelson, who has previously worked on films like “Wrong Turn”, “V/H/S/85”, and “The Domestic”. This horror remake boasts a fresh cast of rising stars that includes Rohan Campbell from “The Hardy Boys”, Ruby Modine known for “Satanic Panic”, Mark Acheson from “Peter Pan & Wendy”, David Lawrence Brown in “Orphan: First Kill”, and David Tomlinson, who was in “The Hillsdale Adoption Scam”. The reboot is being overseen by executive producers Steven Schneider, Anthony Masi, Sarah Eilts, Brandon Hill, Brad Miska, Erick Opeka, Yolanda Macias, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor. The upcoming version of this movie, titled “The Santa Slayer”, is produced by Scott Schneid, Dennis Whitehead, Jamie R. Thompson, Erik Bernard, and Jeremy Torrie. This reimagining comes from Cineverse and Iconic Events Releasing, who plan to give the film an unrestricted, nationwide release towards the end of this year. The story revolves around Billy, a character who experiences the gruesome murder of his parents by someone impersonating Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. This traumatic event sets him on a lifetime crusade to instill fear during the holiday season. Every year, dressed in the jolly red suit, Billy carries out a horrific massacre as a twisted form of justice. In the new version, Rohan Campbell will portray the character of Billy.
Originally released by TriStar Pictures in 1984, the film “Silent Night, Deadly Night” garnered $2.49 million at the box office during its initial run, despite being produced on a shoestring budget of just $750,000. The movie’s controversial theme of a murderous Santa Claus caused a stir at the time, with screenings taking place concurrently with “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Despite a negative public reaction that led to an early end to its theater run, “Silent Night, Deady Night” has continued to hold a special place among horror movie enthusiasts as a cult classic.
In this remodeled phrasing, let me share the cast of the initial film, which featured Robert Brian Wilson portraying Billy at eighteen, Lilyan Chauvin as the Mother Superior, Gilmer McCormick as Sister Margaret, Britt Leach as Mr. Sims, Nancy Borgenicht as Mrs. Randall, Linnea Quigley as Denise, and Randy Stumpf as Andy. This movie was orchestrated by director Charles E. Sellier Jr., based on a screenplay penned by Paul Caimi and Michael Hickey. The film was succeeded by “Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2” in 1987, followed by “Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 3: Better Watch Out” in 1989, then “Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation” in 1990, and lastly “Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker” in 1991.
The re-make of “Silent Night, Deadly Night” is set to unleash its terror in theaters on December 12th, perfectly timed for the upcoming festive season. This yuletide, Billy will be checking if you’ve been good or bad. Make sure your behavior is good, or else you might invite his wrath upon yourself.
