It’s been a while since Steven Spielberg released a major film, but he’s been quietly working on a new science fiction movie planned for 2026. The title was a mystery until recently, when the first trailer dropped, revealing the film is called Disclosure Day. The trailer suggests this will be a more intense and shadowy story about aliens, and I’m already very excited about it.
The trailer for Disclosure Day is a classic tease, immediately dropping viewers into a dangerous scenario without revealing much detail. It seems the film centers around aliens – or some other non-human beings – trying to contact humanity, but powerful forces are trying to keep it a secret. Josh O’Connor plays a character determined to reveal the truth to the world.
This new development feels very much like something out of a classic alien movie – think crop circles and mysterious broadcasts. (I’m still captivated by the scene where Emily Blunt’s character speaks that strange language!) However, anyone familiar with Spielberg’s films knows there’s usually a deeper meaning beneath the surface. The imagery is particularly intriguing, especially the scenes featuring the animals in the forest.

Spielberg is famous for his science fiction films, including classics like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. However, Disclosure Day stands apart. While I appreciate its darker tone, the film is so pessimistic that it offers no sense of optimism.
Over the past few months, details about Steven Spielberg’s new film about UFOs – written by David Koepp, who also wrote Jurassic Park – have been gradually revealed. It’s been known for a while, however, that Spielberg has brought together a fantastic cast. In addition to Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, who have already spoken about the project, the film also stars Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Wyatt Russell, and Colman Domingo. It’s a truly impressive group of actors, and I’m eager to see their performances.
Promotion for the new science fiction movie is gaining momentum, and this trailer is the biggest marketing push so far. Billboards with a mysterious and unsettling image appeared last week, and it makes you wonder how Universal Pictures will build on the alien concept in their advertising. With some imagination, this could be a really engaging campaign.
No matter what happens with the studio’s plans, I’ll definitely be in the audience to see Steven Spielberg’s new movie. He’s still at the top of his game after all these years, and I’m sure this alien film will be amazing.
The movie Disclosure Day will be released in theaters on June 12, 2026. I’m looking forward to finding out more about it in the coming months.
