FKA Twigs is ready to move on.
Four years following the legal action initiated by the artist formerly known as “Cellophane” (whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett) against her ex-partner Shia LaBeouf for a claimed $10 million, citing persistent abuse and accusations of knowingly infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease, she has opted to drop all allegations permanently, as reported by TopMob News.
On July 21st, as stated in the records, Bryan Freedman, representing FKA Twigs, submitted a motion to dismiss all her initial claims in the Superior Court of California with prejudice. This means that she is permanently barred from re-filing these specific claims, following the ongoing legal exchanges between the former couple.
In simpler terms, Freedman and Shawn Holley (LaBeouf’s attorney) have decided to resolve their dispute without going to court. They made this decision while aiming for a positive outcome. The specifics of the agreement will not be disclosed, but they express hopes for each other’s personal well-being, career growth, and future harmony.
This new development arises following allegations made by FKA Twigs in 2019, when she was 37 years old, accusing Shia LaBeouf, then 39, of emotional, physical, and mental abuse during their one-year relationship.
Previously reported by TopMob News, FKA Twigs claimed in a lawsuit that has since been dropped, their relationship with Shia LaBeouf started on the set of his movie “Honey Boy.” Initially, she said, he showed her excessive expressions of affection that won her trust. However, she alleged that over time his behavior became erratic and abusive.
Shortly after filing a lawsuit, FKA Twigs (who also mentioned she would donate a considerable amount of any winnings to charity) expressed in an interview with the New York Times that it was challenging for her not just to speak out, but to end the relationship altogether.
In a moment of introspection, I found myself questioning if anyone would believe my ordeal. As someone who started dating Jordan Hemingway in 2023, FKA Twigs shared this sentiment back then. The experiences I endured with Shia were the most harrowing I’ve faced throughout my entire life. It seemed unfathomable that such hardships would befall me. However, I came to realize that such unfortunate events can happen to anyone.
In response to the accusations levied against him by FKA Twigs in a lawsuit filed in December 2020, Shia LaBeouf’s legal team has refuted these claims. Simultaneously, LaBeouf himself released a personal statement as well.
In an email sent to the New York Times, he acknowledged that he couldn’t explain how his actions affected others, as he was not in a position to do so. He admitted to having no valid excuses for his alcoholism and aggressive behavior; instead, he offered only justifications. For years, he had been self-destructive and harmful to those around him. He expressed shame over this history and regret towards the people he harmed. There’s little else he could add in explanation.
Two years after the events of “Holes”, its star, who rekindled his relationship with former spouse Mia Goth post their 2018 separation, acknowledged that during accusations leveled by Barnett and other past partners, he fell short in his behavior.
During his 2022 interview on the Real Ones podcast hosted by Jon Bernthal, he admitted that he made a significant mistake. It was a disaster, causing pain to many people, and he is well-aware of this fact.
LaBeouf, the father of three-year-old Isabel, shared by Goth, stated, “I’ll be paying off debts for as long as I live.
