FNAF 3 Movie Is A Lot Farther Along Than Expected (Report)

With the release of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 approaching, rumors suggest filming for Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 might be happening sooner than anticipated. The popular horror game series, now a successful movie franchise thanks to Blumhouse and Universal, is continuing with a sequel. Josh Hutcherson returns to star in the second film, building on the success of the first movie and promising another frightening experience.

While Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has been released, the film series might not be over. Talk of a third movie, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, began even before the second film was made. Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, a third installment is possible and could happen in the near future.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman reports that a third Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is in development. He shared on X (formerly Twitter) that filming for FNAF 3 could begin as early as late summer 2026.

As a big fan of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movies, I’ve been keeping a close eye out for news about a third film. Officially, there’s been absolutely nothing released – no dates, no announcements, nothing! It wasn’t even clear if they were making another one. But everything I’m hearing suggests they are, and they’re eager to get it done while the first movie is still fresh in everyone’s minds.

After the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie came out, the filmmakers hinted they wanted to make more than just three movies, and really emphasize the scary parts. So, it’s not surprising to hear rumors about a FNAF 3 movie, especially if the second film is as popular as the first one.

The movie Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be released in theaters on December 5th. Starring Josh Hutcherson, the film continues the story of Mike and Abby, who once again face the terrifying, haunted animatronics at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, a family-friendly pizza place and arcade.

What Do We Know About the FNAF 3 Movie?

Currently, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 hasn’t been officially confirmed, but many expect it to be announced soon.

I was so thrilled when the first movie came out! It was a huge win for Blumhouse and Universal, and it really brought horror to a new, younger audience. Plus, it was amazing to see one of my favorite video game series brought to life on the big screen – they really nailed it!

If the rumors are correct, we might see Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 in movie theaters soon after Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is released.

Many fans will remember the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie came out in theaters and on Peacock in late 2023. Because it did well, a second movie was quickly approved in January 2024, filming began in November of the same year, and it’s now scheduled to be released in December 2025.

As a big horror fan, I’ve been keeping an eye on the next Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. It sounds like they’re starting production around the same time as they did with the second film, which could mean we might see it in theaters around late 2027. Fingers crossed!

Releasing three movies in a little over four years is a great accomplishment, and it seems the Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) movie series is currently on track to continue at that rate.
