FNCS 2025 Global Championship: Gentle Mates Dominate, Viewership Hits Record Highs

On September 7th, the FNCS 2025 Global Championship was held at Décines-Charpieu, France, hosting Fortnite’s largest esports event of the year. Viewers from around the globe watched as the leading trios competed for a $2 million prize fund and global recognition.

Gentle Mates Lead Europe’s Triumph

Andrejs “Merstach” Piratovs from Gentle Mates, Aleksa “Queasy” Cvetkovic of Twisted Minds, and Egor “SwizzY” Luciko from Gentle Mates won the championship. They dominated the competition and took home the trophy as well as a prize money of $400,000.

Europe excelled in the competition, consistently placing Polish, Russian, and Scandinavian teams high on the leaderboard. North America faced challenges, as their top three teams only managed to secure a fifth place. The Gentle Mates organization also impressed, earning multiple players key contributions to both first- and second-place victories.

Record-Breaking FNCS Viewership

The FNCS 2025 Global Championship boasted a live viewership of 954,473, placing it as the third most-watched event in Fortnite esports history. Only the 2018 Celebrity Pro-Am and 2019 World Cup Finals attracted larger audiences.

  • 770 channels broadcasted the event, almost four times more than FNCS 2024.
  • Average viewership climbed 25.2% compared to last year.
  • Total watch time grew by 7.9%, despite fewer broadcast hours.

In this particular event, the significant contribution came from French streams, which was largely due to the event’s location and the participation of well-known streamer Corentin “Gotaga” Houssein. Consequently, the number of French viewers skyrocketed from 8.6% to 17.7%, placing it second only to English in terms of viewership. The Japanese and Arabic audience also increased, whereas the German and Italian numbers saw a minor decrease.

Fortnite’s Esports Momentum

For the past three consecutive years, the FNCS Global Championship has shattered its previous viewership records. As of 2025, Fortnite stands at sixth place in terms of peak audience for all esports, while ranking third overall in total prize money distributed thus far.
