Folklore Hunter launches January 30, 2026 for PC, later in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch

Liquid Monkey Games has announced that their cooperative urban legend hunting game, Folklore Hunter, will officially launch on PC via Steam on January 30, 2026. The game will then be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch later in 2026.

Folklore Hunter first launched in Early Access on February 24, 2020.

A new update is here for those playing the Early Access version! It now includes full support for the Steam Workshop, letting players create and share their own modifications and custom content.

Jayde Cohen, the creator of Liquid Donkey Games, explained in a press release that players have a lot of options for fighting the supernatural creatures in their game. You can use shotguns, crossbows, explosives, religious symbols, or even magical runes. Cohen encourages players to choose their preferred method and forge their own unique story through gameplay.

If a father vanishes while searching for his children, or a village is plagued by nighttime creatures and strange occurrences linked to old military labs, you’re the team they call. You’ll be sent to remote, unexplored locations with minimal resources, facing supernatural dangers, to uncover the truth behind these baffling events.

Embark on a main campaign where you’ll track and hunt three legendary creatures in both solo and multiplayer adventures. These ‘Story Hunts’ will challenge you to set traps and use cameras to find the elusive, horned Wendigo. You’ll also need to decipher riddles and reveal the secrets behind the Strigoi’s abandonment of their village. To find the Mothman, try communicating through electromagnetic signals, but be warned – it’s watching you too, and something else is out there hunting you back.

As a hunter, I’ve been exploring some seriously cool places – think dark forests, creepy caves, forgotten shrines, and even sealed-off catacombs. I’m tracking down the most legendary creatures of the night, and it’s not easy! I have to piece things together from clues like blood-stained notes and hidden skeletons. It’s a real test of my wits and instincts to survive and outsmart these otherworldly threats.

Discover the origins of each creature and learn how to stop them from harming others. Then, put those lessons to use on smaller hunts with random locations and challenges. Successfully complete these hunts to earn rewards, unlock better gear and traps, and customize your hunting style.
