The popular ITV drama *Footballers’ Wives*, which originally ran from 2002 to 2006, might be making a comeback. This follows remarks made by Gary Lucy, who played Kyle Pascoe in the series.
The show centered on the lives of the footballers and their wives at Premier League club Earls Park FC. It lasted five seasons and featured a cast including Zöe Lucker, Gillian Taylforth, Alison Newman, Peter Ash, and Laila Rouass.
In an interview with The Sun, Lucy indicated that discussions are happening about bringing the show back, but he wouldn’t be playing football in it anymore. He also mentioned the show might look a little different this time around.
We’re working on bringing it back, though it might look a little different this time. I can’t share many details right now. I won’t be playing football in it – I’m past that age! – but I will be involved in some way, absolutely.
Filming the show was a really enjoyable experience. In the past, we’d often get footballers telling us they were fans, though that doesn’t happen as much anymore. It was quite a while ago, after all.

According to The Sun, the show might premiere in 2026, but instead of being broadcast on ITV, it could appear on a streaming service.
This follows Lucy’s comments from earlier this year about potentially returning to the show. She said she believes it would be very popular and offer something new.
Everyone really enjoyed it. It was a great way to escape and take your mind off of everything happening in the world.
The typical episode of the original show lasted 45 minutes, but some special episodes were extended to 90 minutes.
The popular show Footballers’ Wives has been adapted for audiences in several different countries. More recently, a musical version of the series started rehearsals earlier this year and then premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer.
