Be warned, this article contains spoilers for season 2, episode 7 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, titled “A Bus Bench and Faith out the Wazoo.” For the first time, the absence of Sheldon is truly felt in the show. Despite Young Sheldon‘s strong ratings when it ended, creator Chuck Lorre and CBS decided to capitalize on its popularity by continuing the story of Georgie and Mandy, whose connection initially thrived as a subplot in the original series. Their romance is now the main focus of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
The show Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage follows two storylines: Georgie and Mandy’s life together, and what’s happening with the Cooper family back in Texas. We’ve already seen Mary and Missy return in season two, and Meemaw was featured quite a bit in the first season. Even George made a brief appearance, despite his character being deceased. Interestingly, Sheldon hasn’t been on the show yet, but this is the first time his absence has really been felt.
Sheldon Could Have Saved Georgie The Hassle In First Marriage Season 2, Episode 7
In season 2, episode 7 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Georgie is struggling with the bookkeeping for his auto shop with Ruben. He asks Mary for help because she handles similar tasks for her church. He also approaches Audrey, hoping she’ll approve an additional marketing budget, as he suspects his mother might be too cautious with money. However, Mary and Audrey realize Georgie intentionally played them against each other, which gets him into trouble.
If Sheldon hadn’t been away, he could have easily handled the bookkeeping for Georgie’s tire shop. Georgie used to do his own family’s taxes and really enjoyed it. Sheldon would have gladly taken on the McAllister Tire & Auto books and even looked for ways to free up extra money for advertising. With Sheldon available, Mary and Audrey wouldn’t have been needed to help with the finances.
Why Sheldon Hasn’t Come Home Yet (& When He Might Appear In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage)

Okay, so it’s looking pretty unlikely that we’ll see Sheldon back home for Christmas this year. The folks over at Young Sheldon have been teasing their holiday episode, and it strongly suggests he won’t be making it. It’s a bit of a letdown, honestly, because it felt like the perfect chance to bring him back into the Cooper family fold, especially with Young Sheldon continuing the tradition of holiday episodes from The Big Bang Theory. Honestly, if he’s not home for Christmas, I have no idea when we might see him reunited with his family on screen again, and that’s a little worrying as a fan.
The decision of when Sheldon Cooper will appear on the show Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage rests with Chuck Lorre and the writing team. When he does return, it’s hoped that the storyline will give him a chance to reconnect with his family โ Mary, Missy, Georgie, and Meemaw โ for a satisfying reunion. This is especially meaningful because the ending of Young Sheldon didn’t allow him to properly say goodbye to them before leaving Texas.
