Forget Haunted Chocolatier, The Spooky Farming Sim We Really Need Comes Out This Summer

Recently, the world of relaxing farming and “cozy” games has been hit or miss. Many new games haven’t quite lived up to expectations, leading players to revisit favorites like Stardew Valley. While 2026 is looking promising with the well-received Pokemon Pokopia, a lot of fans are eagerly anticipating the next project from the creator of Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier.

The upcoming game Haunted Chocolatier looks promising, and the developer has a good reputation. However, it’s probably still a long time off, and there’s no guarantee it will even be released. In the meantime, I’m really excited about another spooky farming game called Moonlight Peaks. First announced in 2023, the developers, Little Chicken, along with publishers XSEED Games and Marvelous, have just announced its release date, and I can’t wait to play it.

Moonlight Peaks Is the Cozy Vampire Game of My Dreams

I’ll admit, I’m easily frightened, but I absolutely love vampires! I even pushed through my fear to play Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. What I really crave, though, is a relaxing game about everyday vampire life. And I think Moonlight Peaks will deliver just that. It’s a farming simulator set in a magical world filled with vampires, werewolves, witches, and other creatures. Plus, if you’re not a fan of pixel art, you’ll be happy to know Moonlight Peaks has a beautiful 3D art style with a wonderfully atmospheric color palette.

I’ve been really looking forward to Moonlight Peaks for a while now. It hasn’t been as long a wait as Witchbrook, but waiting for a vampire farming game definitely feels like an eternity! I was so excited when they finally announced the release date. Even better, it’s coming out in just a few months, on July 7th, for multiple platforms. That gives us a little breathing room after Pokopia. If you haven’t already gotten excited about this game like I have, check out the release date trailer to get a feel for it.

This game looks really promising! You’ll be able to cast spells, grow magical plants, brew potions, and even fly around as a little bat. There’s a whole skill tree dedicated to vampiric abilities, plus the friendship and relationship features that fans of farming sims have been asking for. The art style is absolutely adorable – spooky, but in a cozy and charming way. While it’s different from games like Haunted Chocolatier, I think Moonlight Peaks will be a great choice for anyone who wants a magical twist on the traditional farming sim experience.

A Day One Switch Launch Could Make Moonlight Peaks The Farming Sim of the Year

Originally, Moonlight Peaks was announced only for PC. But now, the developers have confirmed it will also be released on consoles! You’ll be able to play Moonlight Peaks on PC, Nintendo Switch, and the new Switch 2 when it launches on July 7th. The Switch is a great system for relaxing, cozy games, and releasing on both PC and Switch is a smart choice for this title.

I love playing farming games on my Nintendo Switch, especially in handheld mode – that’s how I spent countless hours with Stardew Valley, and it’s my go-to for relaxing games. I know a lot of other people feel the same way! That’s why I’m especially thrilled that Moonlight Peaks will be available on both the Switch and the new Switch 2 when it launches. It’s fantastic news for anyone who hasn’t upgraded to the new console yet, as they won’t be left out.

Farming and life simulation games tend to be more popular on the Nintendo Switch than on PC, though there are exceptions. Games available in early access, like Fields of Mistria, can gain a lot of attention on Steam. In fact, Moonlight Peaks has already received over 20,000 wishlists on Steam shortly after its release announcement. If Moonlight Peaks lives up to the hype, its simultaneous release on both Switch and PC could make it the biggest farming sim of the year.
