Former BBC Radio presenter Scott Mills was questioned in 2018 by police over sexual offence allegations concerning teenage boy

Police have confirmed that Scott Mills, a former BBC radio host, was questioned in 2018 regarding serious sexual offense allegations involving a teenager.

The inquiry, started in 2016, looked into claims about events that allegedly happened between 1997 and 2000. It was eventually closed in 2019 because investigators couldn’t find enough evidence to support the allegations.

In December 2016, the Metropolitan Police started investigating claims of serious sexual offenses against a teenager. The allegations, which were passed on from another police force, concerned incidents said to have happened between 1997 and 2000.

Police questioned a man in his 40s under caution in July 2018 as part of their investigation.

Investigators sent a complete set of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, but they decided there wasn’t enough proof to file charges. Based on their recommendation, the investigation was ended in May 2019.

I just read this in The Mirror, and it’s pretty shocking. Apparently, Alex Mills was fired by the BBC after some concerns were raised about his behavior. The Mirror is reporting that the reason for his dismissal is connected to the person involved in the allegations the police are looking into.

TopMob has reached out to Mills’s reps for comment.

Scott Mills first became well-known hosting “The Scott Mills Show” on BBC Radio 1 from 2004 to 2022. He recently switched to BBC Radio 2 and now hosts the breakfast show, taking over from Zoe Ball earlier in the year.

Following the announcement of Scott Mills’s departure, a BBC representative stated that they don’t discuss individual employment matters, but confirmed he is no longer working with the BBC.

On Monday, following the announcement that Scott Mills had left, BBC Head of Music Lorna Clarke sent a message to staff. She explained that Mills had left his breakfast show position and the BBC, acknowledging the news was sudden and likely a shock to everyone.

Many of us have worked with Scott for years on various programs across BBC Radio 1, 5 Live, Radio 2, and television. I wanted to let you know about his departure as soon as possible.

This news will likely be surprising for our viewers and dedicated breakfast show fans. I’ll share more details about the show’s future as soon as I can. I know you’ll have questions, but I’m unable to comment further at this time.
