Former Supergirl Actor Addresses Milly Alcock Taking Over Role

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen his fair share of superhero movies and reboots, I’ve got to admit, I’m pretty excited about the upcoming changes in the DC universe. Sasha Calle’s supportive words for Milly Alcock, the new Supergirl, are a testament to the camaraderie that exists among these on-screen heroes. It’s like passing the baton in a superhero relay race!

Actress Sasha Calle, best known for her role in “The Flash”, recently expressed support for Milly Alcock, the star of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”. In a recent interview, Calle encouraged Alcock, who will be taking over as Superman’s cousin in future roles, to “shine and enjoy herself”. Calle is currently promoting Daniel Minahan’s film “Swift Horses”, and during a roundtable discussion with her castmates, she spoke about the movie, which premiered this week at the Toronto International Film Festival, and upcoming projects. When asked about passing the mantle of Kara Zor-El to Alcock, Calle was gracious in her response.

Alcock will step into the role of Supergirl, following in the footsteps of Calle, Helen Slater (from the 1984 movie), and Melissa Benoist (who starred in the TV series on The CW for six seasons). Laura Vandervoort played the character in a few episodes of Smallville and later as a villain on Supergirl. Despite Calle’s popular performance in The Flash, the movie didn’t do well at the box office, leading to DC’s film universe being rebooted.

Calle encouraged Alcock (as reported by IndieWire) saying, “Enjoy yourself immensely!” He added, “You’re rocking that badass look. Go out there and shine, and make sure to enjoy the ride.

After assuming the role, Benoist publicly welcomed Calle to the Superman Family and shared his enthusiasm for her portrayal of Kara. Now, with insufficient time spent in the costume, it’s now Calle’s turn to extend a warm welcome on social media.

Actor Alcock, known for his role in HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” often takes on challenging physical roles or major film series. It’s reported that one of, if not the, upcoming projects for DC in their feature film lineup could be “Supergirl.

There are whispers that Alcock might make a brief appearance in James Gunn’s upcoming film titled “Superman“. This movie, featuring David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, is set to hit the screens in under a year.

Ana Nogueira has been tasked with penning the screenplay for “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” Previously, she had been assigned to script a different version of a “Supergirl” film, featuring Calle and connected to the storyline of “The Flash.” Despite the earlier project being shelved, Gunn and Safran were impressed with Nogueira’s work and offered her an overall writing contract for DC. Additionally, it is said that she will also be working on a “Teen Titans” film for DC Studios.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be in theaters on June 26, 2026
