Full patch notes for Fortnite v39.00

Today’s update (December 4th) is a quick fix, but here are the complete patch notes for Fortnite V39.00, taken directly from the official Fortnite website, detailing everything new that’s being released today.

New Battle Royale Map – Golden Coast

Discover the Island’s beautiful scenery! You can get around by walking, driving, or even floating above it all in a hot air balloon. Here are some must-see spots:

  • Battlewood Boulevard
  • Sandy Strip
  • Wonkeeland
  • Humble Hills
  • Bumpy Bay
  • Classified Canyon
  • And more to explore!

New Battle Pass

Get the Battle Pass to play as iconic characters like The Bride and Marty McFly, and unlock exclusive Fortnite originals such as Miles Cross and Cat Holloway – plus a fresh take on the Dark Voyager skin!

As a fan, I’m really excited about the Battle Pass! Besides the usual unlockable styles, there are even more looks you can get for Cat Holloway, Carter Wu, and Dark Voyager (Reality Redacted). But here’s the catch – you’ll need to complete specific quests in Blitz Royale, Reload, and the main Battle Royale modes to unlock these extra styles for each outfit. It’s a fun way to add a little extra challenge and customization!

New Loot Pool

Weapons & Mobility

Weapons now feel more fluid and natural thanks to improved recoil and faster aiming transitions. Plus, reloading is more forgiving – even if you switch weapons or get caught in the action mid-reload, you can pick up right where you stopped, saving your progress!

  • Iron Pump Shotgun: A new heavy-hitting Pump to usher in a new Chapter.
  • Twin Hammer Shotguns: Dual-wielded Pump Shotguns that can tear through the competition at close range.
  • Deadeye Assault Rifle: Scoped, automatic, and built for those who hit headshots at middle-to-long ranges.
  • Holo Rush SMG: Scoped, fast, and dangerous in tight quarters with a fancy new reload animation.
  • Vengeful Sniper Rifle: Reaps opponents with bolt-action precision.
  • Arc-Lightning Gun: Zap players, vehicles, and builds with electricity.
  • Forsaken Vow Blade: Dash in (or out) faster than with the Kinetic Blade, and unleash a flurry of lightning-fast strikes.

Wingsuits are available this Season! Simply equip one, jump, and soar to any location you choose – no training needed.

Unvaults (Everyone Loves a Classic!)

  • The All Terrain Kart returns, along with your usual sports cars and SUVs.
  • The Enforcer AR, Tactical Pistol, and Dual Micro SMGs are back in the pool.
  • Bounce in or blast out with Shockwave Grenades and Clinger Grenades.
  • Heal yourself with:
  • Chug Jugs
  • Shield Kegs
  • Med Kits
  • Bandages
  • Shield Potions
  • Mini Shield Potions
  • Zero Build only: Shield Bubble Jrs and Port-a-Bunkers.

Stay in the Game

We’ve added several new features for those totally uncommon moments when you’re downed:

Joyride in a Reboot Van

Now you can drive Reboot Vans around the Island! These new vehicles let you quickly move items to wherever you’re building or repairing.

New Self-Revive Device

If a Self-Revive Device is in your inventory, you can revive yourself while Down But Not Out (DBNO).

Knocked? Don’t Stop

New DBNO movement options have been added across Fortnite Battle Royale:

  • Roll & Tumble: Roll to dodge fire or throw yourself down a slope to tumble away from danger.
  • DBNO Sprint: Move faster while downed by using Energy.
  • Stay on the Move: While DBNO, you can now use ziplines and ascenders, and even hop into a car’s passenger seat!
  • Reboot Revive: Crawl, or be thrown, into the back of a Reboot Van to be revived while knocked down

New Gameplay

Defeat the Boss, Be the Boss

Defeat Human Bill, Hush, or Beach Brutus to take their items and abilities, and then become them! When you transform into a boss, you’ll get full health and shields, increased maximum health and shields, unlimited energy, and a special attack. Just be aware that other players will always be able to see where you are on the map.

Detecting Anomaly… Things May Not Be Quite As They Seem

Throughout this Season, the Storm is more unpredictable than ever. Unexpected events called Rift Anomalies can suddenly appear, bringing valuable loot, giving players temporary power-ups, and changing the game in exciting ways. We’ll be adding even more Rift Anomalies as the Season goes on, keeping things fresh and surprising.

Gold Bar Overhaul

To keep things fair, any Bars you have won’t carry over between matches. Make sure to use them before each match ends – you can use them to revive teammates, hire new Characters, or buy useful items from Vending Machines, which now have fresh stock. Also, you can now share Bars with your teammates, helping everyone work together and increase your squad’s chances of winning.

New Setting: Simple Build

Quality of Life Improvements

  • More Expressive Hitmarkers: Redesigned hitmarkers now provide clearer combat feedback and improved visibility.
  • Ammo Status Indicators: Weapons in your inventory now clearly display that they’re out of ammo.
  • Jump Shot Capability: Aiming down sights while jumping has been added for more dynamic combat movement options.
  • Chiller Characters: Characters won’t turn hostile as quickly after accidentally shooting them.
  • Improved Spectator Mode: When you’re eliminated, you’ll now automatically spectate your nearest teammate for better squad coordination.
  • Emote Wheel Overhaul: The Emote Wheel has been upgraded with a fresh look, expanded capacity (6 → 8 slots), a new Collections view for browsing your full Emote and Jam Track library, and improved sorting and filtering for faster access to your favorites.

Starting December 4th, the Battle Bus will be available again, bringing back Reload with the new Surf City map. Blitz Royale will also be back with Starfall Island, and Ranked play will return. Then, on December 11th, we’re bringing back Fortnite OG with Season 7, followed by Delulu on December 12th!

Enjoy fresh content with new islands created by community developers, influenced by the style of Pacific Break, and released for Chapter Seven in collaboration with Epic. You can find these islands in the “Inspired by Chapter Seven” section of the Discover page.
