To get fans excited for the launch of Forza Horizon 6, Playground Games has released the third installment of its “The Art of Driving” series. This episode features car photographer Larry Chen and mural artist Inko Ai Takita exploring Kanto, Japan, and focusing on the legendary Nissan Skyline – a hugely popular car for street racing.
Chen describes Kanto as unique compared to the other places they explored. They highlight the fascinating contrast between old traditions and modern city life, noting how peaceful mountain paths can quickly lead to a bustling metropolis. Chen felt Kanto was the perfect place to conclude their travels.
The story begins with Chen driving to the train station in Hakone to pick up Takita. When Takita mentions the Skyline was her father’s favorite car, Chen shares a similar feeling. “My father and I feel the same way,” he explains. “This is my favorite car too.”
You know, when I heard Chen explain why he chose a Skyline for this trip, it totally made sense to me. He wasn’t focused on how fast it was straight off the lot. It’s all about how much you can improve it! He said it’s super easy to get a ton more power just by making a few tweaks and changes – that’s what he loves about it.
The series began earlier this month with an episode featuring Satoshi “DRAGON76” Fujita joining Chen on a road trip to the Tohoku region. They started their journey in the north, traveling in a Toyota Land Cruiser.
I’m so excited for Chen’s Japan adventure! In the latest video, he’s heading to Tohoku first, which he says isn’t what most people picture when they think of Japan – it’s colder, more peaceful, and a bit wilder. And he’s taking a Land Cruiser, which makes total sense, because he’s planning on driving through snowy mountains, and that’s really the only vehicle that’s up to the task!
The second episode of “The Art of Driving” followed Kazuhisa Uragami as he and the host journeyed to Kyushu, Japan in a Honda Civic Type R. The episode began with the host explaining that Kyushu is Japan’s southern island, known for its volcanoes, industrial areas, and history as a center for cultural exchange.
This is my first time behind the wheel of the Honda Civic FL5. The engine you see here is a K20C1 – a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder with VTEC. Surprisingly, it produces 315 horsepower from such a small engine. The Type R has always focused on how a car feels to drive, rather than just pure speed. What I really appreciate is that it’s still a practical, everyday car, he said.
The highly anticipated racing game, Forza Horizon 6, will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S starting May 19th. Players who purchase the Premium Edition will be able to start racing a little sooner, on May 15th. Early reports suggest the game is already a hit, with one source claiming over 500,000 copies have been pre-ordered on Steam.
